Personally i think The MFC was too nice to Clarry last Summer, i don’t blame them for it, but it wasn’t what Clarry needed.
He should have been given Tough Love, “Get yourself Superfit & then you will be considered for selection” should have played at least 10 games at Casey.
it’s no wonder other listed players have been annoyed at what transpired.
Clarry needs to grow up
.

he caused all this
.

Btw, the sooner Max and/or Gus become CEO/President of the club the better.

Journos were talking about Geelong thinking Clarry could be levered out during the season, so they may been some degree of contact well before now.

Sammy Edmund suggested Clarry’s behaviour on Brownlow night wasn’t viewed positively. Not a long bow to surmise that the club gave him prompt feedback (or attempted to), Clarry didn’t appreciate this and subsequently met with Cats, which in turn led to Pert calling clubs later that week.

What is this about the Brownlow night?

This has been an achilles heal of Goodwin for some time. Some players within the group think he has double standards. Players like Oliver get special treatment while others are yanked in and out of the team week to week. Can’t be good for team moral. (I’ll avoid using the C word)

I agree with you, if half of the [censored] that was spread about Oliver last year was true, we should’ve made him do the hard yards at Casey.

I went on to the Cats Big Footy to get a sense of the trade yesterday and they seemed to ahve a lot of intel on what went on

Nor we should

Clarry should work his [censored] off this preseason and earn his spot in the MFC Midfield

Surprised the confidential details of Clarry’s meeting with the club haven’t leaked yet. Wonder what the hold up is?

not only did he cause this but he looks like coming out of this a real winner. gets to keep his bag of gold with a 6 year contract, playing for a team in the finals window. no downside.

meanwhile he leaves behind a trainwreck of people and the club. how many people who tried (vainly) to help, will lose their jobs over this and what a let down for his team-mates, spnsors and club supporters.

just grates me that he comes through this totally unscathed and unpenalised

The fact he went with another bloke as his date?  This is a joke btw.

You have absolutely no idea what he's been through, if you truly think he will come out of this unscathed.

Sometimes we forget that players are people first.

I understand that as fans we are all emotional and we just want our club to succeed at any cost, but that's not how clubs operate, nor how they should operate. The last time a club said lets win at any cost, they injected players with god knows what and ruined their club for 2 decades and counting.

This is a very delicate situation. For all that Clarry has done wrong, he is hardly alone. He is not the first or last player to have a fall. If any supporter thinks that Clarry leaving will magically fix the issues that have been festering for a while, then they are sadly mistaken.

That’s exactly why we should keep him on the list and make him earn the contract he signed

Or recoup his trade value so we don't get screwed in a possible trade next year.

i'd double down on cats paying his whole salary. this is not a salary dump situation.

if that means he stays and plays at casey until he fully reforms and grows up, then so be it

hope club shows some gonads and bargains hard

No but out of a cohort of four it seems only one will be left.

That's a very naive and uninformed take.

Geelong can ask the Vic Gov to cover the cost of Clayton's salary.

It's better than a made up one.

But we wouldn’t get anywhere near recouping his trade value right now

He needs to get himself fit and fiiring

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line
Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
