We were already, this year, when JVR laid a tackle v Carlton (of course) and we scored a winning goal only to be called back for what was universally called out as a staged sling.  No MRO there - Carlton exclusions apply.

My pet hobby horse.  A player will some day break his neck when driving headlong into an opponent’s midriff and the opponent will be vilified and made to have lifelong guilt.  If every player who did this was penalized every time it would stop immediately, and a true tragedy may be avoided.  But the AFL will do nothing until it happens then wring their hands with faux shock and surprise.

If she did say that why not just say I didnt see the incident but its not something that we as a club condone. I would have personally added "but it's an action that happens every weekend".

The video shows part of the problem. The commentary team dictate the narrative. They were very generous in the assessment of the Daicos. Far less so of the May incident. The same way it’s been all season, and for years. The commentators all leapt to Maynard’s defence. And so the narrative begins. It’s horrendous. Kozzy pickett this year the same. Called as a thug and a sniper I. The media. Then another player does it and it’s clumsy. Different MRO outcome. 
 

Edit. I’d also like to add that I hate Nathan Jones commentating Dees games. He has fallen for the old ‘I need to barrack for the other team so I don’t appear bias’ mentality. Absolutely hate hearing him commentate our matches. He thought the Caleb Windsor sling was fine. It was over the boundary and unnecessary and would have been paid in any season before this one, but particularly this one.

That it was a sling tackle seemed to escape everyone’s brain. Phenomenal - it’s a free kick if he hits his head or not right? So why all the commotion? 

Cam Rayner ran into a bloke head high and held his head to indicate contact to milk a free. Why isn’t anyone making a fuss about that? Why isn’t that fined? 

This was all led by the media - again bathing in Melbournes demise. It was so much better when we were winning so we could stick it back at em.

Look, I’ll concede “appalling” might be too strong an adjective. But to say she hadn’t even seen it…I’m sorry but I question the honesty here. It’s very disappointing at most, and if true that she hadn’t seen it, most weird at the least. 

Her role may be administrative, but when she chooses to go on the radio it extends to “publicist”. And a good publicist doesn’t front up to the media without doing their homework.

As Leigh Matthews said on Sunday on Footy Furnace, it is laughable that  people are now saying touching your head to get a free, is now a "disgusting act" on a footy field.

He absolutely rubbished Morris and the Medias' obsession with the May stage.

Said it has happened countless times this year without Media comment.

It's absolutely embarrassing that Mark Robinson and others would suggest Steven May is a cheat for something that happens 100s of times every weekend, staging has been a part of the game for years, you can't pick and choose when you're outraged if you want to retain any sort of credibility. 

lets see if Mark Robinson would call Zach Merrett a cheat the next time he exaggerates contact to get a high free kick.
