If anyone is venturing out here today, bring an umbrella. And be prepared to share it with someone who stupidly left hers at home. 🙄

TIA!

Melksy doing footy wrong…

WCW… delivering the news that matters.

Bowsa is training with the main group Doesn’t look hampered at all.

That’s great news WCW.

Is he wearing a cap or jumper to indicate “no contact” or is he good to go?

About 38 to 40  players down at training.

BBB walking laps.

Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.

Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints.

I cannot see Moniz-Wakefield out there.

Viney and Chandler have broken away from the drills that have some contact and are doing run throughs.

Melky, Bowser, McAdam, Hunter, doing main training without any indication that they are aren't fully participating.

Three stations, all in a competitive handball game.

Now four stations with a competitive kicking game. Some 3 on 3 , others 4 on 4.

Goody has joined one of the stations with a bib. Calls for move the ball quick ring out. Bibs play defensive.

The whistle goes and they all head off for some goal kicking. A short look at it, as they gather centrally and set for a full oval drill.

Viney has rejoined the main group, but Chandler has returned to the sheds,

The energy is great, many having a good time, calls are loud and plenty of support for their teamates.

Two stations and doing stoppage simulations.

McAdam playing out of the stoppage area, like a high half-forward would. Occasionally looking disinterested, though that may be his demeanour. I think he his a shy kinda fella.

Chaplin was doing most of the talking when they gathered.

They finished the session with some sprints along the boundary, and some runs down the middle, then off to individual stuff, goal kicking and low ball gets.

Choco working with Petty on his goal kicking.

Before the runs, McAdam was getting some work on his left hip. Completely the sprints, but not the runs down the middle. A trainer has continued to work on that hip now for the past 5 minutes.

I tell you what… Melksy can’t come back soon enough. They’re doing defending drills. One-on-one running towards each other, one with ball in hand and being stopped by the other with minimal physical contact. Melks is fully participating but also giving tips to Pup and Sesto. The respect he commands is amazing.

Cool, an easy question. No cap. Same red jumper as everyone else

Chin with knee bandaged running around the boundary. As is Vines, but without the bandages. 😁

Could at least have got there an hour early with your blower vac WCW.

Chocco has a group of them practicing marking. He bellowed, “Don’t go backwards against the flight! Keep your effing feet on the ground!” I have nfi what that means but I figure someone on here might.

I’m glad you’re here, Kev. I was dreading any questions that are footy-related. Haircuts? I’m ya gal. But footiness? Not so much.

I think I can help you out.  "Effing" is a euphemism for a naughty word that we can't say on here.

Bowsa is doing everything the others are doing. His body language and demeanour are totes different from how they’ve been of late. You could see from a mile away how dejected he was. Today however, he’s smiling and seems so refreshed. The four days off have benefited everyone it seems. The energy and enthusiasm is off the charts.

Spargipants just jogged past me and smiled. Ima take a pic and send it to ‘Paranormal Caught On Camera.’

Bowsa is a cert for our Carlton match!!! He told me not to tell anyone, my mouth said OK but every other part of me said Do you even KNOW who you’re talking to???

Update: it’s his natural hair colour! I told him people pay a lot of money for hair that colour and he’s lucky he gets it for free. And… wait for it… he didn’t just smile, he grinned! And now I’m not sure what planet I’m on.

PS: can confirm he has teeth.

@WalkingCivilWar did you ask Fritta what Dusty said to him post game? Looks like he told him to f off which I can only assume is due to jealousy over his glorious hair 🤷‍♀️

Hey @WalkingCivilWar, can u also ask Melky if he’s aiming for a ‘9 month post surgery’ return to play’? If it helps, obviously tell him you’re asking for a friend.

Have heard a few mentions that McStay at the Pies may be back in that timeframe. Think Melk is aiming for King's Birthday?

No, but I’ll definitely find out. 😁Interestingly, our #31 isn’t backward in coming forward when it comes to smart-mouthery. He’s the first to admit it. An example of what he says to oppo? I wouldn’t know since he won’t even tell his parents. 😅

I’ve mentioned this before but in December he told me he’ll be back “for the back end of the season.” Then about six weeks ago I asked him if that had changed. He said it has and that he’ll likely be back earlier than anticipated. I said, “Maybe after the mid-season bye?” He said “Yes, maybe even just before the bye.” I haven’t asked him since then because I don’t wanna annoy him (I know right - that ship’s sailed 🤭) but Chocco told me today that they’re really happy about how much “ahead of time” he is.

I just think it’s weird that Dusty would have beef with Fritta. I doubt those two have ever played on one another 😂

Thanks Kev and all others including WCW

Did I read it right that both Bowey and Melksham were in full training?  Fabulous news if I am reading correctly.

Would it mean that Bowey could be back this week or next, and Melk only a few weeks later presumably via a few at Casey

  • PREVIEW: Brisbane

And just like that, we’re Narrm again. Even though the annual AFL Sir Doug Nicholls Round which commemorates the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture to our game has been a welcome addition to our calendar for ten years, more lately it has been a portent of tough times ahead for we beleaguered Narrm supporters. Ever since the club broke through for its historic 2021 premiership, this has become a troubling time of the year for the club. For example, it all began when Melbourne rebranded itself as Narrm across the two rounds of the Sir Doug Nicholls Round to become the first club to adopt an Indigenous club name especially for the occasion. It won its first outing under the brand against lowly North Melbourne to go to 10 wins and no losses but not without a struggle or a major injury to  star winger Ed Langdon who broke his ribs and missed several weeks. In the following week, still as Narrm, the team’s 17 game winning streak came to an end at the hands of the Dockers. That came along with more injuries, a plague that remained with them for the remainder of the season until, beset by injuries, the Dees were eliminated from the finals in straight sets. It was even worse last year, when Narrm inexplicably lowered its colours in Perth to the Waalit Marawar Eagles. Oh, the shame of it all! At least this year, if there is a corner to turn around, it has to be in the direction of something better. To that end, I produced a special pre-game chant in the local Narrm language - “nam mi:wi winnamun katjil prolin ambi ngamar thamelin amb” which roughly translated is “every heart beats true for the red and the blue.” >y belief is that if all of the Narrm faithful recite it long enough, then it might prove to be the only way to beat the Brisbane Lions at the Gabba on Sunday. The Lions are coming off a disappointing draw at Marvel Stadium against a North Melbourne team that lacks the ability and know how to win games (except when playing Melbourne). Brisbane are, however, a different kettle of fish at home and have very few positional weaknesses. They are a midfield powerhouse, strong in defence and have plenty of forward options, particularly their small and medium sized players, to kick a winning score this week after the sting of last week’s below par performance.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

There was a time during the current Melbourne cycle that goes back to before the premiership when the club was the toughest to beat in the fourth quarter. The Demons were not only hard to beat at any time but it was virtually impossible to get the better them when scores were close at three quarter time. It was only three or four years ago but they were fit, strong and resilient in body and mind. Sadly, those days are over. This has been the case since the club fell off its pedestal about 12 months ago after it beat Geelong and then lost to Carlton. In both instances, Melbourne put together strong, stirring final quarters, one that resulted in victory, the other, in defeat. Since then, the drop off has been dramatic to the point where it can neither pull off victory in close matches, nor can it even go down in defeat  gallantly.

  • CASEY: Footscray

At twenty-four minutes into the third term of the game between the Casey Demons and Footscray VFL at Whitten Oval, the visitors were coasting. They were winning all over the ground, had the ascendancy in the ruck battles and held a 26 point lead on a day perfect for football. What could go wrong? Everything. The Bulldogs moved into overdrive in the last five minutes of the term and booted three straight goals to reduce the margin to a highly retrievable eight points at the last break. Bouyed by that effort, their confidence was on a high level during the interval and they ran all over the despondent Demons and kicked another five goals to lead by a comfortable margin of four goals deep into the final term before Paddy Cross kicked a couple of too late goals for a despondent Casey. A testament to their lack of pressure in the latter stages of the game was the fact that Footscray’s last ten scoring shots were nine goals and one rushed behind. Things might have been different for the Demons who went into the game after last week’s bye with 12 AFL listed players. Blake Howes was held over for the AFL game but two others, Jack Billings and Taj Woewodin (not officially listed as injured) were also missing and they could have been handy at the end. Another mystery of the current VFL system.

The Demons head back out on the road in Round 10 when they travel to Queensland to take on the reigning Premiers and the top of the table Lions who look very formidable. Can the Dees cause a massive upset? Who comes in and who goes out?
