The Footy with Broden Kelly - Hester & Ben Brown

Featured Replies

This popped up in my youtube suggestions. It's the podcast of Melbourne supporter Broden Kelly and an interview with BBB & his wife Hester.

Is it any good?

Yup, I enjoyed watching it. BBB is a different cat to your average AFL footballer and it's refreshing to hear something other than the regular alpha male meathead banter that you tend to get on footy podcasts like American Aces, to name just one. Hester offers a really good insight into what the life of a partner is like too.

great chat!

I thought so too. We're lucky to have him and they're lucky to have each other, I think.

WTF. To correct.  3rd quarter. Key moment was Viney to Harmes to FRITSCH … not to Brown. BBB too polite to correct him.

Broden Kelly.   Currently a part time comedian.  Auditioning as a wannabe podcaster.

How dare he make a mistake.

Yes fair enough. But it was the main starting to the show in introducing Ben Brown, it’s a howler !!!

The Harmes to Fritsch play in the 3rd quarter in the 21GF is a key turning point and part of Demons history.

Am I the only person left that doesn’t have their own podcast?

You should start up ET's Trade Whisperer Podcast with Ricky Nixon and Tony Sheehan

Those who liked Benny Gibson, he has a podcast called The watch with Ben Gibson, with the first two guests Kade Chandler and Blake Howes. Really good discussions and a deep and meaningful chat about Gus. It won’t challenge the demonland podcast 😎 though which will always be no. 1.

I’m not Ben, just liked his work with the demons and though people would like to know.

Broden and Tom often make mistakes and joke about how the point of the podcast is their uninformed and imperfect reflections on footy.  Marnie (who is now a regular) is a sports journalist and more facts focused.

The podcast is pretty light hearted and enjoyable, without being off-puttingly blokes and pointless.  One of my top 3 regular podcasts (alongside Demonland and Footy Time)!

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.

Mars is not usually a place known for lighting strikes but on Friday evening it happened twice in the vicinity of the stadium in Ballarat that carries the name and is a half completed building site with limited capacity for spectators.
