See earlier in this thread. On MFC.com they're saying McLean will be rested for another week.

where's jamar?

neaves has been called half a dozen times doing things around the ground but no mark. worrying signs for the russian.

I thought he was injured, is he playing today?

Done his hammy a couple of weeks ago.

Newton could have had about 9 goals today. Would have been BOG or at least the most dominant forward had he kicked straight. Has had about 4 assists too.

Posted

some bloke called robinson misses. apparently he's done well enough to be straight back in for the dees next week.

not sure about robertson though.

johnson kicks another for the seagulls. the commentators go 'nanas as a result.

Posted

22 point the margin- robertson 4, saunter 3, newton huges 2, liddel, garland 1 some of the goal scorers.

newton very impressive. what a shame he couldnt kick 5 and really press for selection. he could have.

robbo will definitely play next week meaning he probably won't get another chance this year unless dunn or miller get dropped or injured

ok thats great to hear....

what exactly has Juice kicked(and how many scoring assists) in fact can i just have all his stats if someone has them when the game is finished hes gotta be pushing for selection next week if not the week after ....

good to see robbo back on target back from injury....

robbo was interviews on 97.7fm.

he said it was good fun playing for sandy, and was impressed with their inability to win posession from the contests.

seems certain to be playing for the demons next week, as he is clearly a level above vfl. in fact he is one of the better afl players going around so will be a gerat addition to the team.

surely daniher can't ignore newton forever. he kicked 2, i missed 3 gettables, directly involved in atleast 2 others (one in which he got a bloke holding the ball but advantage was payed to sautner who kicked the goal instead of newts)

Juice kicked 2.6!!! At least 2 of those were rushes of blood to the head that he should have avoided, but other3ise he played a mature game. Would have had 25+ touches playing at CHF, as well as doing all manner of other things like tackling and intercepting kick-ins...

As far as assists, I think I counted about 4... Shame. Would have been nice to say he kicked 4+ 3 weeks in a row... But...

Juice played another ripper today, and his side got over the line. That's the important thing.

commentators say that very even performance.

commentators opinions:

sautner prevented, "but it was telling that he and robbo spoiled each other."

impressed by robbo, had a hand in 6 or 7

wheatley miserly in defence, link man across hb

bizzell terrific in the middle or down back

poyas cutting across hb

like the look of gallagher

summers in and out of the game

hughes - only played for 2 quarters, livewire when he came on the ground

holland down back an old head.

no mention of newtown. sounded to me via their very bias call that he was very, very good

thanks for the info DD was greatly appreciated does anyone think Newton has any sort of chance in the next 2 or 3 weeks to play for Melbourne???

pressure on miller is huge now. with robbo coming back, he really should be dropped anyway, and newtown MUST be close to debuting.

great to see hughes sounding impressive, and i'd prefer wheatley to ward or brown. i'm positive he could play on their players at least as defensively as they can, and be better skilled when he has the ball into the bargain.

he's always played as a medium tall player on tall players. it'd be great to see him play as a medium tall on slightly smaller players. i think he might have the agility to do fairly well.

it seems very clear to me that the demons coaching staff are desperate to find another quality k.p backman. they have tried holland, warnock, bizzel, ferguson and others with limited success...

frawley is clearly the big hope to become a quality k.p backman. the coaching staff will play him after 1 good vfl performance, of that i am sure. (unlike newton who must impress for 10 weeks before getting a look in).

so...how did he play??? does he warrant selection? will it be soon?

Newton would have to be among the best 3 Zebs in recent weeks, and among them for the year.

Will he play? Probably not. He'd have to move heaven and earth to get a game at the moment I reckon.

What's weird is that this year there haven't been too many demons players I've been excited to watch. Maybe Beamer, Petterd, Bate, Bell... Juice is up there with them, and he's not even playing in the red & blue...

What did he do? Hit on ND's daughter or something?

Posted

Great stuff from Newton, that'll probably be 3 weeks in the best, hope he keeps up his form and can make his way in way into the dees team.

how did cj go?

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

Some veteran Demonland Trackwatchers ventured down to Gosch's Paddock to bring you the following observations from another Preseason Training Session. WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
