Trade: Bruce + Jamar = B.Stanton (Essendon)

Also, McLean + Jones for the return of Heffernan

If I could choose anyone to come to Melbourne, I'd go with Jonathan Brown, but that is probably because he is my favourite player (outside of Melbourne). I am well aware that his body is suspect, and that Pavlich is a better long-term investment.

Oh, the thought of Jonathan Brown in a Melbourne jumper is spine-tingling

We will never be able to afford either of these players. The trade demands for either will be off the planet. Not to mention the amount of cap space needed.

The only way we will get either of these players is if we finish last and one of these players walks out of their respective clubs. This is unlikely as both are happy at their clubs and Richmond are WAY TOO horrible to finish on top of us!

pavlich and brown both on the footy show! maybe one of us should've been in the crowd to ask them which one would prefer to come to melbourne! if they don't answer, just a bit of rock paper scissors should suffice

Top players have changed clubs before though.

A major factor in trading value is whether the player wants to stay with their current club or not. As soon as they decide time's up, the demands their current club can make come back to earth ... in the end bidding competition from other clubs will determine the result, not simply what they ask for.

And it's not as though clubs haven't been held over a barrel before with the threat of pre-season draft nomination.

U cant be serious Bruce + Jamar = B.Stanton

No way would I trade Bruce. If Only Daniher had the luxury to leave him in the middle all the time.

We will have to agree to disagree on that. Stanton is a great player...as is bruce but i dont see bruce getting any better and i think stanton will be as good as him, while still being younger. The bommers prob wont trade him...we need ash to have his opinion but there are not many players on the list that will be either traded or wanted (eg Coghlan)

Im curious to see, does anyone see anything in Kepler Bradley. A very low pick (somewhere in the 10 if i remember correctly) and could be good down back to replace dusty. Bad bit about him is his pace (which is medioka but not terrible either) and his kicking/

2008 team:

B - Whelan Carroll Bell

HB - Rivers Frawley Bartram

C - Johnstone Jones Green

HF - Robertson Dunn Bate

F - Davey Neitz Sylvia

R - White McLean Moloney

I/C - McDonald Petterd Kruizer Stanton

Emerg - Yze Newton P.Johnson

That's what the team would look like 2 me if we traded bruce + Jamar for Stanton

FWIW I went with Pavlich....

But that is the real question isn't it, is one player, even Chris Judd, worth it?

Especially considering that we would have to give up half the side to get him <_< !!!

Exactly Judd would not be worth it, plus the low morale it would create by losing half the team to gain one player

When will you people realise Bruce's value? He's got close to the best engine in the league, can run with and negate playmakers like Judd and Hird, gathers possessions like they're autumn leaves, and can mark and play forward.

Sorry ... you want to trade Bruce for someone whose best position is on the interchange bench?

Sorry, it might have whooshed right over! A bit esoteric.

I thought our 'hot god' was No. 30.

haha thought you meant godders, but i just couldn't bring myself to believe it. i'm in love with wheels, want his babies. is that wrong? NOOOO, surely

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
