Spargo will make way for Kozzy once he serves his suspension

Really like to see Kozzie not get suspended as much. Jvr too.

They are both young and I guess some agro is part of what makes them good.

May used to get in trouble but mellowed as he got older .

I see this as the predominant best 22 for most of the year other than match ups which will determine whether we go with Fullarton, Smith or McAdam. Fullarton used when the opposition play 2 rucks or if Max isn't 100%. Smith we all know what he is capable of and is a very damaging 3rd key forward or capable defender if we want to stretch the opposition talls. McAdam to play the Melksham role with a bit more speed and creativity than others provide.

If our forward pressure is breaking down then Spargo and Chandler will be recalled to create that turnover football.

I'd like to see the emergence of Howes, Laurie, Turner, AMW and Woewodin the most this year. I think they've all had long enough time in the system now to be making an impact at senior level so a 5-10 game season for all of them would be a good result as I don't see any of them outclassing their team mates in the 22.

B.Brown, Schache, Tmac and Hore will all provide roles when required this season but I'm not focusing on them too much.

Jefferson, J.Adams, Sestan, Tholstrup, Windsor and K.Brown I don't want to place any pressure on them this year so just let them develop at Casey and if they can play a couple of games then that will bring great confidence for their 2025 season.

Good looking team as always Werridee

If Salem doesn't get up who is likely to replace in your view

Wouldn't Jvr be better at HF?

The SEN team has him at FF

Edited by leave it to deever

I think Fullarton comes in for Billings, starts on the bench with Sparrow starting hff.

Is Fullarton actually any good or are we just hoping he will be in a Demons jumper? He'll certainly look better. Isn't he more "Break Glass in case of Emergency"?

I think we traded for him to play that 3rd tall forward 2nd ruck role.  We have to manage Max Gawn, especially early in the year,

Stop referring to Salo every time a team is announced by one of our posters.

You have already declared he should no t play unless he can jump ove the moon and backwards because he was not at his best last year and was persistently picked.

I just think it’s ironic when you have your D/L name as Kent.

I may be wrong but if you are named after our recently retired via Saints half forward flanker you should know all about a player played when not fit or in form and or never really got a permanent place in our team. Reason was he was a weak player under pressure and also was not all that skilful. Couldn’t kick right foot. Should have been delisted earlier.

And now you pot Salo in the best5 on the ground in our 2021GF and had a great season.

He is training the house down now so beware you might have to pick him.

He can play either FF CHF or Forward pocket resting and doing some ruck  work with Fullarton relieving Maxy,

Werribee see my post on Kent's continuing questioning of Salo's spot in the team. He doesn't believe Salo  deserves a spot on last season's form.
Speaking about 3 weeks ago in Melb at Salems Northpoint Cafe ( North Rd at beach end Brighton) his father said he was at his best fitness wise since 2021.

Lets hope he gets every chance to Star again like 2021 when he was in our best 5 no doubt in the Granny.

Lets hope you are right 2021 was exceptional followed by two years of averages less than half of2021 output

clearly not fit/ injured should not have been an auto selection said so at the time!

I like you, hope he returns to his best on the list since 2014 and been great for the club It is only my view that all has to go right for him to be auto selected I will continue to question if that is ok by you?

It’s not cool to ask it every time another poster does his team for Round 1 and you always say “ who will replace Salem if he doesn’t make it?”

He is entitled to have a form lapse occasionally, does not play injured all the time.

Two years is more than a form lapse I dont  care whether you think its cool or not Fact is he was picked when he shouldnt have been is all I'm suggesting.

But you don’t gave to bring it up every time someone selects him.

You have conveniently missed my point about Dean Kent who I am surmising is who your D/L name is attached to. (If not my apologies)

Now there was a player who teased us for 4/5 years and was given far too many games  for his skill and fitness level with so many injuries.

I was always frustrated by his performance and selection.

Just don’t  mention it every time it’s the Selectors fault not Christians.

Lets both hope he is ready and super fit for 2024  as I understand he is at the moment.

I assume JVR would ruck forward of centre as per last season but then that was on the FF line.

Yeah Roo will give him a chop out

I've decided to make my team quicker. That means leaving out Tomlinson. Brayshaw will be the seventh defender.

Kozzy missing round 0 but available for round 1.
Billings may get the nod ahead of Chandler at the start.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
