Just wanted to start a positive thread to distract us about tonight's game (the thug and his mob 🤢).

I was listening to a podcast and they mentioned the great RDB #31.

Some here with more knowledge of this great and old club can certainly add more names:

31 - Barassi, Fritsch

11 - Stynes, Gawn

13 - Jakovich, Oliver, Yze

Who are the greats all time and what number did they use?

In 1965 I was 7 years old and a rabid Demon's supporter. My grade 1 teacher Jan Dalton and her husband Denis had become family friends and would visit for meals on occasions. One eve in '65 Jan and Denis arrived without a bottle of the usual red but with  a brown parcel which was handed to me. Upon opening it I saw a Demons guernsey with the number 5 on the back. Jan said Denis had swapped jumpers post match at the '64 GF but couldn't stand having the red and blue in the house - thought it'd be better off living in a household of D supporters......#5 has always been  my fave.

Number 21: worn by the great Don Cordner, former Melbourne captain, Brownlow medallist and Melbourne, Cricket Club president.

Have to add Laurie Mithen to that list. Absolute champion.

I find the #6 has been an interesting one, if not legendary. It has seen the following players

Scott Thompson 2001-2004

Matthew Bate 2006-2012

Chris Dawes 2013-2016

Jordan Lewis 2017-2019

Luke Jackson 2020-2022

Brodie Grundy 2023-2023?

With Matthew Bate the only one-club player on the list in the past 20 years, and playing just 102 games, it feels to me that this number has become the designated jumper for players who are not long for the MFC. Luke Jackson did it in reverse, starting with us then nicking off after a flag but the idea remains.

I must point out that the greatest of them all (in my humble opinion) was 6 times premiership player Frank Adams (6 by 6)!😀!

  • Thank You Simon Goodwin

As Demon fans, we’ve ridden a rollercoaster of emotions over the decades; the heartbreaks, the near misses, the wooden spoons, and the endless waiting. But through it all, we clung to hope. And then came Simon Goodwin. Before he ever wore red and blue, he was a champion in his own right. A five-time All-Australian, two-time Best and Fairest, and two-time premiership hero and Captain with Adelaide, Simon Goodwin was always destined to lead. When he transitioned from the field to the coach's box, first as an assistant at Essendon, he began shaping a new legacy.
