Ben Brown nominated for the Jim Stynes Community Leadership Award

A beautiful special human being. So happy for him to have won a flag with us in 2021.

BBBs time at MFC might be short and sweet but glad he's at our club.  Seems like a ripper bloke and a champion on and off the field.

I really love this award. There are so many players doing great things in the community without seeking recognition.

It would have been nice if the other nominees were mentioned in the article as well, given that they are all surely worthy.

Not that you need to be a father to be a good bloke, (ANB is a stirling human in this space), but have often wondered, we seem to have a lot of young fathers amongst the playing group, and wondered if this is something that helps with the high emotional EQ the playing group seems to have.

Anyway BBB is one of many 'good blokes' we have (and congratulations to him), but with the team it seems to go beyond the usual PR/media relations gimmicks. Now I know that their 'job' is to play football and not be social white knights. But jeez they make it very easy to be very proud of this club.

Outstanding contribution from our Premiership forward.   So glad he made it to our club when he did.

That he's also still trying to push through major knee pain and issues in an attempt to present also speaks volumes about his on-field courage and tenacity.

Super character

He might be a solid chance given the default J Selwood option isn’t available this year.

Seems like a genuine, genuine good person.

Countless times I've had the thought of how lucky it was to end up, by near-random chance, supporting the club which I would be most proud to support if I had to pick one on careful consideration now.

It's like meeting a sibling you never knew you had and discovering that they are your favourite person.

Ben Brown is certainly a part of that. He is somehow visibly one of those 'generous of heart' people who you would want your kids to spend time with and who can probably stay patient and cheerful in a dementia care environment.

But, interestingly, one of the things I like about the club is that two radically different people (Brown and McDonald) can both be important and tightly connected parts of our premiership forward line and also each be excellent human beings in their way.

Ben Brown strikes me as one of those beautiful souls that likes to serve others.  He just oozes goodness.  I heard him speak on the radio recently about his work in the area of equalisation in women's sport.  This man must remain an employee of the MFC forever.  Never let him leave! Except if he wishes to run for PM.  Then of course he can go.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

It’s late February. Two teams widely predicted to finish near the foot of the AFL table in 2026 face off against each other in sweltering 30-degree heat deep in outer suburbia in a match simulation with fresh new faces and uneven team numbers. There are no nearby sheep stations on offer; the result promises nothing more than bragging rights for the winner. Nevertheless, the loser appears hopelessly adrift, whereas the other seems to have found its footing after a couple of years of struggle – perhaps a hint at bigger things to come?
