How was that a free when the Pies have been diving on the ball all night long

Edited by Gawndy the Great

defensive intensity is so good, as is our speed across the ground

was a shame mcnamara couldn't kick the first goal of the season

bannon should be one of the biggest starts of the aflw with her electric pace and ability to hit the scoreboard

Handball becoming a weapon.

It's their choice? 👍 if so.

disappointing last five mins of that quarter

if you don't put it on the scoreboard in aflw when you have the opportunity to do so yr really hurting yourself

too much handballing opened up the space for them then

bad kicking = bad football

My call a bit early? It was the skill, more than the appropriateness, I was noting...

no doubt, i just wasn't aware of it happening

paxy paxman is a superhero name so works for me

Can someone there shoot out that big 'CFC' in the background at the RH end?

pies contest work and pressure is first rate.

Defensive transition and structure is terrible.

Shocking umpiring then.

dumb footy. just knock it through for the behind

we're well off the pace here

Also showing as 'P. Paxman' in the broadcast stats.

Clear Mark/free  on the goal line ignored.

Mids and defenders can’t win a contest

Umps are ****house. Bri Davey Appreciation Society.

Big Pearce looks shot but wow Georgia Campbell is talent

badly needed that. good passage of play to create that opportunity.

  • PREVIEW: Fremantle

The dominant storyline coming out of Round One for Saturday Night’s clash at Optus Stadium centres on the influence of the big men. The spotlight naturally falls on two elite ruckmen who, five years ago, shared the stage in Melbourne’s memorable premiership triumph.

  • THE STATS FILES: St. Kilda

As part of the effort to trim the runtime of the regular podcast, we’ve been looking at which segments could be reshaped without losing what makes them valuable. One segment that naturally came into focus was Binman’s Stats Files. Not because it isn’t important; quite the opposite. It’s become such a substantial and much-loved part of the show that it deserves a little room to breathe.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.

  • POSTGAME: St. Kilda

Never in doubt!!! In Steven King’s first game at the helm of the Melbourne Football Club, the Dees outlasted Saints in a wild, momentum-swinging thriller at the MCG, running out 13-point winners.
