Once again crucial results decided by goal umpires being piled on by 9 players and goal line technology proudly brought to you by Nokia 3310

Nah hard disagree, that would happen a million times and it's on the umpire to make sure the decision is correct when it clearly doesn't touch the post. Should've reviewed it.

I want players celebrating after goals, especially ones that are saving their season with 1 minute left after being down by 44 points...

Hard disagree? I’m saying it was very unfortunate there was no review. I’m not having a go at the Crows players, it was a clear goal. They had no time to set up.

Oh shoot my bad, I thought you were saying they should have been waiting for the goal. My apologies!

In that case you’re 100% right and I agree!

This one is worse than ours:

On (competent) ARC review the aligned angles show the ball clears the back of the post before it could possibly have touched it. Clears the padding, too.

Unfortunately the way the system is, the umpire makes a call and has the option to say they want to check to see if xyz.

I believe goals are reviewed. The fact points aren't reviewed especially a critical point like this one is just plain idiocy from a policy perspective.

Jesus if I were an Adelaide fan I’d be absolutely ropeable. That has cost them finals (likely, but not certainly), and unlike last week the system should have fixed it if it had been properly used.

I've no idea if it hit or not. maybe he heard a sound. he called it straight away.

Apparently the swans player slapped the padding at the exact time - meaning the spike on edge was also rendered useless

Absolute farce

Absolutely disgraceful. The AFL is a corrupt, incompetent, joke of an organization.

You can’t script this [censored] 🤣🤣…honestly.

How silly do all those neutral(&Carlton) supporters from last week look now when they were saying "just go with the goal umpires decision because he is in the best position"?

Wow. I didn’t see the game but i just saw a slo mo

Adelaide have been robbed September. That is pathetic. FIX IT UP AFL

THAT WAS A GOAL

2 weeks in a row they are just dead set WRONG

So did the goal umpire hear the players hand on the goal post & think it was the footy hitting it?

Gutsy call but he was right there.

Adelaide would be spewing. They have West coast next week.

I wish we did. This technology interference in its current state has made things so much worse.

These decisions should be overturned, It’s time the suits at AFL HOUSE did something constructive apart from paying themselves

Captain’s challenge time.
I want to see how the AFL tick this one off

Umpire called it like in our game & the Ark is still a piece of sh1te.

But they didn't use the ARK and that's the issue. Maybe the goal Ump thought no point using the ARK they just get it wrong any way like last week. .

Overturn the Decision. It’s blatantly wrong

Well I am just happy Geelong lost and will not make the 8. Excellent.

As for peeing and moaning about the Adelaide goal I am glad they lost. Their supporters are an incredible pack of [censored] and they can rot down the bottem end of the ladder for ever.

You can't,  but I wonder what would have happened if it had been a kick after the siren.

I simply don't go along with those who yell "corrupt AFL" whenever a poor decision is made. I believe umpires are doing their best to be strictly fair, knowing that they can be judged by TV replays. But incompetence is another matter. That last-minute shot was clearly a goal. And since it would almost certainly have been a game-decider, any goal umpire worth his salt would have asked for a replay to be certain of the right call. Getting a 50-50 decision wrong in midfield is understandable, but not when it comes to a match-deciding goal-line moment with finals spots on the line.

I agree with that but it adds fire to what happened to us last week.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.

The Demons return to the scene of the crime on Saturday to face the wooden spooners the Eagles at the Docklands. Who comes in and who goes out? Like moving deck chairs on the Titanic.

It's Game Day and there are only 5 games to go. Can the Demons find some consistency and form as they stagger towards the finish line of another uninspiring season?
