Genuine question, is the AFL (by threat of litigation) in 10 years time going to look more like a semi-contact Gaelic football? Is that where this is going?

I think it’s well and truly heading that way, and we will see it sooner than 10 years. We really are the biggest knee-jerk, spineless and feeble society in the western world.

Of all the contentious decisions of late, this maybe the silliest yet!!!

It's probably not, it's the Tribunal one last week.

This one was run on legal technicalities, not the legality of the incident.

What the Appeals Board said is that the Tribunal didn't get it wrong, on the Hawthorn legal arguments raised.

The Tribunal did get it wrong, when looking at it as an incident and finding it deserved 3 weeks.

If the Tribunal had given him a week, which was the worst he deserved, it would have ended there.

nothing in that tackle.

Other than he could have broken the kid's neck.

It was a very dangerous incident and he deserved a few weeks.

Carlton as usual get away with murder.

I don't think there is another body within the AFL system.

Maybe a DL lawyer knows if the Courts are an option.

But I doubt the Hawks would take that option.

Yes, yes and yes.

Who knows where it's all going. Maybe in 50 years science and technology will have advanced to a point where you can wirelessly insert a layer of extra protection to sit between the brain and the skull and increasingly prevent concussion, you never know with the rate things move.

But until that time the semi-contact route looks likely.

The hypocrites, during the off season I think, said that gut punches were not to be tolerated - unless of course the assailant is named Dustin Martin in which case they will get a slap on the wrist with a wet lettuce.

And I couldn't believe John Longmire saying that the case involving his player was an accident - he charged him and concussed him.  FMD.

Soon enough I'll look back on 2020 as the good old days of hard footy, similar to how I looked back to the 80's and 90's in 2020. How depressing is that.

Rampe can concuss an opponent way off the ball - an accident.
Bizarre.
Swans still hoping for a finals place.

Not when taken in the right context which is that the Swans play the Dockers next up and allowing them an extra player is beneficial to the Freo death riding cause.

Need them to win this week. Pick 4 is nearly there for us.

Not a gambling person but I would bet Pick 4 is already ours!

Exactly Chelly and we dropped the ball by not mentioning this in the Deathriding thread.

Apologies if someone mentioned this in the Deathriding thread.

Freo play Eagles and Hawks and if they beat them and Swans, pick 4 is probably gone.

Lose to Swans and they need both wins to move up, but a win by sides above them in last 5 games will stop that.

Hope you are right though Luci.

    TRAINING: Monday 20th January 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov
