He actually had 2 excellent aerial contests in the last 5 minutes and he took a strong grab and laced out Schache for the vital go ahead goal.

Athletically we know he’s not much but he played well.

For an AFL listed player and looking at the way he moves I’d have to disagree. Maybe ok for a VFL player but he should retire effective immediately.

I was a bit harsh on Jordan but what I’m getting at is he’s got no great strength to bring to our game.

Jordon and Wowoedin were great , Deakin Smith and Lawrie have a great set of skills and plenty of time.

Best defender: Deak Smith. Really solid game. Turner quiet. Howes I can’t believe had 23 which is a testament to how easy he makes it but his contest work is poor.

Best mid: Woey. JJ had moments as did Laurie, but Taj I thought combined inside and outside efforts.

Best forward; Depsite rucking a lot was Schache. With an honourable mention to Gorgeous George Grey.

Brown started the season with 8 goals in two matches and the club admitted he shouldn’t have lined up against Sydney with his back injury.

Will never look great at VFL level with sub par ball movement and delivery.

His inclusion into the side will help Roo and Fritta tenfold. I very much hope he’s back in soon and from listening to an interview from Richo last night, he’s not far away.

Schache is miles in front atm

Another strong game from JJ. But probably won’t crack it for a game next week as Hibbo and Clarry back in.

Laurie also on the fringe of a senior game.

I think Woey jnr should debut later in the year.

Deakyn Smith is still a prospect.

Not sure BBB will get back despite our needs for a KPF.

It’s a VFL game. Name a clear strength he has and who does he replace at the level?

Would be better than Harmes on current form and he will be suspended anyway I suspect

Good thing about him is he is a very reliable kick for goal we could use a bit of that skill atm - not sure who he’d replace though

No point flogging a dead horse with BBB though, for what he’s got I thought he contested and jumped at it well today. Maybe, just maybe it might spur him on. He’s had a lot worse VFL games lately.

JJJ’s endurance is his weapon at AFL level. He’s still just 22 and filling out his frame and has barely played consistent footy as an inside mid. He wasn’t a TAC pathways gun on baller who’s been doing this since he was 14 like Jack Viney for instance.

He doesn’t provide us anything to the senior side right now, hence why he isn’t in it.

People think he needs to be in the afl side. I firmly don’t. But I’d love to see what he can do with 10 more weeks at Casey as the main man. His skills and stoppage craft can really improve with 30-40 touches a week

Jefferson is going to need to lift...a lot.

Are your standards based on JVR? Because if they are, have a reality check.

In the context of big forwards, Roo is a massive anomaly in that not many come in and have an impact straight away and Jefferson isn’t ready. Not many big forwards are expected to be, but so many on this page especially think he’s going to dominate games like Roo did last year when it’s just not realistic at all, not to mention them being very different players also.

I’ll admit I’m a hard judge of players. I also use my feeling of a players impact more than the stats.
Sure Jordan got plenty ball today but he’s just so vanilla. Could he replace ANB? That’s about his best chance and we know how hard that’s going to be for him.

Poor player management. If Smith can’t lock away a spot after 3-4 weeks then Schache deserves 3-4 weeks.

Weitering was playing on Roo last night. That said it all. Brown is needed for structure. No club or player is nervous about Schache, they never have been, and likely never will be. Browns first two games showed he’s worth persisting with. Again, he will never go well at VFL with the standard of delivery, umpiring and flow of the game. It’s very obvious isn’t it?

It’s how he’s moving that concerns me most. He makes Gawn look fast. Darcy Moore would run off him like a gleeful kid from his grandma.

You talk structure like Brown will add to that, care to explain? JVR did just fine on Weitering by the way

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
