Good to see Jed Adams get his numbers up again. 7 marks seems like a good game from a defender.

Had next to no pre season with the shoulder injury and is now starting to pick up form.  When he was drafted it was his draft highlights out of all the draftees that impressed me the most with his strong intercept marking and neat left good.

Good signs ahead.

I didn't get to watch the full game but the quarter and a bit I saw he looked really strong and took 3 intercept marks in the space of 10 minutes or so. Is coming along nicely after a limited preseason.

Brayshaw to Hunter's wing, Turner in for the Brayshaw role.

Petty for Bowza and plays back.

Sparrow in for Clarrie if he doesn't get up.

Jordon as the sub to go to that wing if Brayshaw isn't working or blows up.

Depending on how the game's panning out, Petty can go forward and give TMac a shot at rotating through that wing as well.

Petty is out for several weeks.

I’d play Turner for the next 4 weeks and let him show us if he’s good enough.

One week was enough…NO WAY.

Turner is too good for VFL consistently. We should promote him this week but not play him on someone he is 17 kilos lighter than like the Suns game. Laurie is moving toward a similar position and should be given opportunity during the year. Schache deserves a game ahead of Brown. Joel Smith was good but in spurts. Jordon had a Jordon game. Howes, Jefferson, Adams  and Sestan all shows signs but need another preseason or two to see where it takes them. Not convinced that Woewodin, D Smith or Moniz Wakefield can become good AFL players.

Moniz Wakefield was someone who looked promising last year n hoped wouldve developed more than I thought.

They put him on Casboult FFS. Put him on Amyss this weekend and see how he goes, then Silvagni against the Blues. Hoskin Elliot of the Pies. He’ll learn a lot and won’t get torn apart

Yep he isn't built for the jolly green giant types.  This week on Amyss might work.

Even if he keeps him to reasonable numbers without completely blanketing, if it allows Lever to play his preferred role it would be big win for us.

Joel seemed to be in it early but had few possessions for his 3 goals.

Was he deprived of opportunities or injured or unfit?

Really as a clear cut changes plan this is a mud pie.

First of all PETTY is out till after the bye ( post in D/L of about 150/200 contrbutions) snd in Daily Melb papers and no doubt on TV as well.

Secondly Petty and Tmac "rotating through that wing". Neither play on a wing they are KPF or KpB depending upon placement. Neither have regularly played EVER on a wing for us in the last 4 years. , Tmac played wing cameos of about 5/10 mins prior to gong forwarded FF or CHF in 2018.

Bowser we don't know about yet Yes Clarry is also a mystery but it is only precaution getting a scan at this stage.

Sparrow  will come back in definitely whether Clarry gets up or not.

Not sure we need Turner as we have enough Half backs with Salem back Rivers McVee Brayshaw also. Unless we need a third tall Turner not needed.

Harmes should get game and make our mids more accountable and tag a Freo star so that they don't have 41 possies would be a start.

Hope this clarifies selection a bit more but really we don't know it's too early in the week re Hunter Clarry  and Bowser.

Agree. But Woewodin showing improvement. Non listed players George Grey and perhaps Roan Steele showing more than Moniz.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
