Take it the old fashioned way.

Personally I ain't going to ask him to bend over for that.

It's looking to me like he could feature somehow.

Interestingly Spargo is training with the main group.

Maybe they are allowed to do non-contact training after a week of rest.

At this late point before gameday, all is a little intriguing. Shacka, Gawn, Oliver, Petty, et. al. Specific yet rather new forward drills, as if a revised attack plan could evolve.

Could Schache be the sub??

I know it's not normal to have a 200cm tall forward as sub but it is interesting that he's being used a fair bit in the drills?

I'm guessing Laurie is the same but?

Jeff White is here with Kalani who is now taller than Jeff.

Gonna be a man mountain.

I recognised Kalani before I recognised Jeff ☹️

A lot of the drills involve having a high ball kicked and the player just bringing the ball to ground intentionally and the players mopping up.

Is this to appease the “just kick it long” element in the grandstands? 🙄

Was Petty with the forwards for the whole thing?

Yes

Salo on track for 3 weeks (all going well)

Yuck! Petty is not a forward. In certain matches where the game needs a change I don’t mind him swinging down there to try something different but starting him there is not the way to go in my opinion. He’s a starting centre half back and that’s that. I’ll die on this hill😂

To add to this, I thought in the second half last week Petty really grew into the game and gained some confidence back with his intercept marking and reading of the play. So swinging him forward and disrupting that momentum that he looked to gain again seems very unnecessary.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
