This was a hot topic at the B&F too. I said to Banno how there was never gonna be a repeat of her magnificent six-bounce gallop down the wing that day. She said, “Six?! I wouldn’t have even got one. You bounce that ball and it’s staying put, that’s how spongey it was.”

"I said to Banno", eh? (huffs on nails and polishes them on lapel😁)

Methinks, though, that you (particularly, to the D'Land lens)and your DA colleagues have earnt the right to be in a position to name-drop, and to actually do so.

Tiny bit of envy here, I guess. Wondering if there's a smidge of something that could come the way of Foundation Members...

I'm sure others have said, but it was extremely loud through the TV as well (helped along by the fact that the Brisbane fans had been silenced and having much of the play down the Dees cheer squad end in the last). It actually reminded me of a comment I'd read on here about the 2021 men's GF, that mid-way through the 3rd someone in the cheer squad said something like, "Next goal, we have to go crazy and not stop til the end of the game, this is it" and well, we all know what happened then. Along similar lines, our players definitely felt that passionate support when it was really needed, against the odds. So happy for those that got up to see it live!

I don't even care if this is true, I'm choosing to believe it. (Although apparently Brisbane were always happy to have it at Marvel, so who knows?)  I liked how Kate Roffey addressed this at Gosch's the other day - she didn't sugar-coat it at all, describing what happened when the players tried to bounce it on the Saturday (nothing) and that the game plan had to shift in response. I might be misremembering her exact words but she basically said the turf was awful. Luckily for us, it all becomes part of the story now in a positive way.

Other favourite parts from Saturday:

- The spontaneous applause when the players started to arrive and how everyone (fans and players) was at the same level of excitement.

- L.Pearce's apologies for not being able to attend and then her attendance anyway!

- One of the twins (was at the back and couldn't see) asking for face painting during Daisy's speech.

- The way Kate Roffey always speaks in the down-to-earth manner of a suburban pie night yet still with appropriate gravitas to whatever the situation - she really knows how to make people feel like they're part of the club and even instill a bit of "us and against the world" to it all.

I asked Daisy at the Best and Fairest, "Burning question for you, Daisy.  Did Sylvie get her face painted?"  She laughed and said yes, she did, followed up with "Gotta love three year olds!!"

The players are so approachable.  I can't imagine the type of interactions with the men that we've been able to enjoy with the women.  It's not some exclusive club, it's a matter of going to the games and supporting them.  They love it just as much as we do.  It's the girls who make the decision to turn up to things like banner making, even non playing players helping out on match days holding the banner up, etc.

Yes but I always deign to pop back to my plebs.. I mean, my peeps on Demonland having descended from the lofty heights of hobnobbing with the likes of a roomful of Premiership players. Yes, to name-drop, but also to check if anyone’s noticed said name-dropping. And you have. Thanks muchly.

Seriously though, coz the girls are so approachable and have so much time for us, it’s at a point where there’s no more fan-girling, autograph hunting etc. It’s pretty much like buddies running into each other. 💕

I've heard so many stories involving a DA-er politely asking for a pic with one of the men only to be met with a sigh, an eye roll or both. One player in particular is notorious for this. On one such occasion he treated the DA-er to the deluxe combo of a deep, audible sigh, a 360-degree eye roll and an unconcealed look of disdain. And was heard to mutter under his breath, “another one!” as he reluctantly posed for the pic. And it’s not like she was in the shower recess at his house or anything, this was at the Men’s B&F! The very place where players expect to be approached by fans. Cannot for a millisecond imagine any of our girls coming anywhere near this level of disrespect.

This is so true....I haven't shown anywhere near the dedication and support to our women as you and others. I attended a couple of matches in season 1 and then put Casey Fields in the too hard basket. This year I was drawn back in and attended the last 4 home games and the 2 finals in Melbourne.

I came back for a few reasons. I wanted to show my kids that there was no difference in the amount of effort I'd go to to attend afl vs aflw (of course they come too, as well as my Dad and wife). I also couldn't resist the way they were playing. I had to see that excitement in person.

I've been surprised by how friendly and grateful for the support our AFLW players are. As outlined above I wouldn't be a recognisable face for them. Yet have found players keen to have a yarn after matches on the fence. Often they refuse to leave the ground despite minders trying to move them on. Hanks seems particularly notorious for this.

The pre gf training was the best. My daughtet and I had long chats with several nervous and excited players.

A little effort as a supporter and I quickly felt very connected to this teams journey.

Our women are absolute stars!

Have you tried to get to Birrarung Marr from Dandenong by 4 pm when you finish work at school at 3.40?

Sorry Birrarung Mar is nothing to do with Bunjil Place in the City of Casey as far as I know!

The event lasts for say 90 min or 2 hours (I imagine )you don't have to be there at 4pm pronto. You get in line to have your photo taken with the Cup. ( Didn't you get your photo with the AFL Men's Cup in 2021 at the  Museum at the MCG. ?)

Ooops, I misread, I thought it was Birrarung Marr.  I've had a number of photos with both cups, so I'm not so much thinking about me.  Casey is still going to be very difficult for many fans to get to by that time, though.

But MFC are catering for local Casey fans primarily because we play at CFields.school is closed at 3 pm or after.

Hardly any one really is going to go from Braybrook say to Casey to see the Cup. You  can if you  want to of course but it's not the target fan that is being catered for at Bunjil.

I take it there's more premiership merch on the way? I know they're not going to sell a million, but some sort of picture of the premiership team should be a minimum. At the moment they've got a replica jumper for $140 and the ugliest t-shirt since the early 90s.

Based on what we've seen for other premiers in previous seasons, I wouldn't expect there to be anything else released at this late stage. Strike while the iron's hot and all that. I'd love a t-shirt or whatever with the '21 and '22 cups on them, but I guess that's pretty niche.

I did get a magnet with the premiership team on it for renewing my membership back in early December, which was a nice touch from the club that could be done inexpensively I spose. I'm sure they'd have extras if you don't have one already. Mine came with a thank you note from Gillard and I was amused to imagine they'd saddled the kid with all the signing duties!

Yes, there was more merch available immediately after GF - a mug, pennant, premiership t-shirt, cap and stubby holder.

And don't worry about Tahlia being lumbered with all the signing duties - mine was signed by Goldie. 🙂

Yeah, I snapped up a few things. Sold out pretty quick.

Lucky you to get Goldie! Although to be fair, I'd be happy with any of our players.

HAPPY 24th BIRTHDAY, BLAITHIN!

That’s my flag she’s proudly holding. Well, it’s her flag now. Apparently she thinks she slept wrapped in it on the Premiership night but she’s not sure.

Methinks Guinness might’ve been aflow that night. 😁

Against all odds I've found something official - who knows why it's on this website and not the Demon Shop.

It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield.
