I'm waiting on the future headlines to read.. "Demons seek overseas help in solving Olivers hamstring issues" 😱

Sorry if I missed it, but have any 'expert' posters who have been putting the boot into our fitness staff ever replied to my suggestion that perhaps the docs looking at the initial scans stuffed up rather than our staff?

Personally I'm in the camp of those saying it was a difficult case further complicated by a week in bed and these things happen without anyone being specifically at fault.

So Oliver goes from 3-4 weeks last week to 4 weeks now. Wouldn't be surprised if we don't see him again this year.

It really sounds like the H&A season is a write off for him now.
Hopefully will be right in September. Otherwise you’d need to question what long term impact this will have on his career.

You’re not actually serious with that last sentence are you?

Mate it'll have zero long term effect. It's a muscle strain.

Further strengthening around the legs and his core will get him back to normal again Nd hopefully better management by the club would be a good start.

Interesting. So Hibbo's a chance. I hadn't realised he'd be back yet. I reckon he'll come in @dazzledavey36. Be fascinating to see.

I'd be incredibly shocked.

No one has still answered my question in who he's replacing in our back 6?

If Bowey had to come through the 2's off the back off a one week concussion then Hibberd is doing the exact same off a 3 week injury.

I am. This is his first soft tissue injury and it hasn’t healed well. We have no idea if he’s going to be prone to bad hamstrings or soft tissue injuries going forward.
Hopefully not.

I'm not saying I'd necessarily do this, but they may rest Juddster.

Then how does he get back in?

To be honest I haven't seen any signs of McVee looking tired.

I'm all for resting blokes if need but only if it's there.

Can't see why he can't play every game from here on. Remember Rivers, Jackson and Pickett all played every game of the year in their 2nd season back in 2021.

FFS it’s not like his leg has fallen off. It’s not a bad hamstring injury, it’s just in an area where it can be difficult to manage.  He might get another hammy or two during his career but FFS calm down.

Maybe going by your reaction to my post, you should be the one to calm down 🤷‍♀️😂

Many players struggle with soft tissue injuries. I’m not saying Oliver will be one of them, but it’s certainly not out of the realms of possibility. Just like how when you do an ACL you’re more likely to do it again. Just ask Gawn.

You’re the one questioning the long term affects of Oliver’s career after a hamstring injury. Any rational person wouldn’t even be considering this. It’s a hamstring injury that he’s had a setback in, which is very common and now they’re just making sure they get it right.

Ok I’ll be sure to run things past you before I consider anything in the future 🙄

All I was pointing out is that hopefully, given how long this hamstring is taking to heal, that he won’t be prone to more soft tissue injuries.
I wasn’t saying this specific hamstring is going to impact his career. Of course it won’t.

But many players have issues with recurring soft tissue injuries, especially ones who play the demanding role that Clarry plays. It’s probably why they’re making sure it is 100% right because they know the risk of recurrence is high.

Well, I'm on record multiple times saying I'd drop Gus (if Oliver was fit), so I guess I'd be open to leaving Rivers out.

I like Rivers, but he's the major liability ball in hand in our current back 7 IMV.

It's going to be a fascinating team selection this week, because I could also see us going small and potentially bringing back Chandler as well, so we can exploit Brisbane's lack of speed, but Kade may have to bide his time now that he's lost his spot.

With Hibbo apparently right to go, this week would be the perfect time to push Bowey forward. I know it won’t happen, but I do wonder why he keeps practicing goal kicking at training…

That might solve both problems. And then you could drop Spargs for Hibbo.

I’m definitely taking a stab here, but if I was running the footy department I’d be telling everyone the most conservative information about Oliver. I suspect that’s what’s going on. Nobody is unhappy if he pops up a week early, but there will be fury if it goes on any longer.

I’m sure this has been raised but  since Burgess left for family reasons our injuries fitness have been questionable by Griffiths, call it bad luck but questions need to be asked by the club!
In 2022 we seemed to run out of puff after 1/2 time & Oliver’s injuries seems to have been managed poorly

2022 we ran out of puff related to a late start, exhaustion post flag and injuries.  Currently coming out of loading.  Wait and see.

Why if it is a complex rehab we have been told since Kings birthday that he’ll be playing every blo#dy week

This is when rumours start when a 1-2 week injury become 10 weeks

I like this idea Jaded.  Bowey seems to make good decisions and disposes the ball cleanly.  I would love to see some beautiful passes into the forward 50.  Try kicking to the advantage of our forwards rather than frustrate the hell out of them and us supporters with random errant looking kick and hope type stuff.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
