Dees to clip the Swans wings

Pretty exciting weekend coming up for the MFC

According to 99% of football supporters, the media etc... we are GONE

I dont blame them for saying this. After all, we have been crippled by injury. We have been hit harder than any team I can think of in my time watching footy. it has been frustrating to say the least

That is why this weekends game will be seen as the most important win in the last 40 years of the Melbourne Football Club

Make no mistake. We will win this week

Nothing is surer

This team has guts, and it will be on show Saturday night.

There will be some wildcards. The Swans wont know how to handle Petterd and Garland. I can see them both having an impact in their first ever games. Rivers is back to dominate the backline, and Travis will fire. Davey hit form last week. Paul Johnson returns toi the ground that ended his 2006 campaign and will be keen to atone.

What will happen?

The Demons will win by 36

Carroll to smash Hall

Rivers to smash O'Keefe

Bell to smash O'Loughlin

Travis and Davey to run riot

Demons to booot 21 goals

Garland will kick 5, Davey 4, Dunn 3

This win, against all odds, wil kickstart our season whoch will end up with a Preliminary final berth, at the least

Totally agree with you on this point... Season defining and career defining for some

Hmmm.... Loving the optimism!

Tough ask for Rivers to dominate, but he will surely try his guts out and reduce his opponent to only a couple of goals... TJ needs a good game! He has been nothing short of dissappointing so far this season... Loved Davey's game last week and he will only get better (probably getting [censored] that everyone is rating his brother ahead of the original) Big PJ and his courage last year at the SCG was fantastic.... The big fella needs to get games and a big string of 'em to prove he has got what it takes!

Mate, if you are even half right with your prediction then I will be stoked! Love the fact that you even posted this, let alone whether or not you believe your own hype :)

Swans by 16 points.

But it could be season defining as YM suggests. I'm confident we'll play our best footy for the year.

If all 3 of Rivers, TJ and Moloney play, then that will help us dramatically.

Yze, Davey, Bruce and Pickett were our main weapons in last years game, and their all playing tomorrown night which is great!

Why do you tell lies?

My thoughts exactly Ash.

And its ironic that Y M has a history of spiteful posts (that have been rightly deleted by other mods) aimed at the MFC footy dept and players when we lose.

Ex Senator Santo Santoro was more reliable.

I would have thought our injury list has been miles more defining than anything Y M could muster.

This and the next 3 weeks are against the top teams in the competition and we will still not have our best cattle on the track.

I think Yze Tragic exhibits strong mood swings with no rational basis that an observer can determine.

We could knock off Port. As long as someone bribes the injury gods ;)

Best possible case scenario heading into that game is that we'll only be missing Robertson, Whelan, Jones, McLean and Bartram.

TJ, Moloney and Rivers would have hopefully had solid and healthy hitouts, Green should be back, Neitz will make his return, Pickett and Sylvia will be operating at about 80% (instead of 60% V Freo)...we're a sniff I reckon.

And RR, what was your honest opinion about Yze's game V Freo?

Why do it on PM?

Can't we ask you here all mighty one.

I have a few mysteries that I need answered, if you would be so kind as to grace me with your wisdom.

Ok, why did both the Bulldogs and Carlton pass on the messiah, err, I mean Sylvia?

Why is Aaron Hamil considered a "great" player when the guy only averages 14 possessions, 4.4 marks and 1.25 goals a match over his 190 game career?

How long will it be before everyone realises the "Shineboner spirit" is just a myth as it only gets talked about when the Kangaroos win, and never mentioned when they get flogged?

Apart from the 3 Brownlows that Colin Sylvia wins, who will be Melbournes next Brownlow medalist?

And since you're predictions are so accurate, can you tell me when Essendon will next win a premiership. 5 years? 10 years? 20 years?

Much appreciated great one.

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo

    WELCOME 2024 by Meggs

It’s been hard to miss the seismic global momentum happening in Women’s sport of late. The Matildas have been playing to record sell-out crowds across Australia and ‘Mary Fowler is God’ is chalked onto footpaths everywhere. WNBA basketball rookie sensation Caitlin Clark has almost single-handedly elevated her Indiana Fever team to unprecedented viewership, attendances and playoffs in the USA.   Our female Aussie Paris 2024 Olympians won 13 out of Australia’s all-time record 18 gol
