Amazing

A great video to see for the younger geneartion of supporters like myself and anyone else that wasnt around for that era

I believe in the 'Curse of the Norm'

And the club deserves to have such a curse for the way those morons on the board treated the greatst coach in the clubs history

Wow - That is some serious vision.

The Players should be made to watch that grab before confronting the Dockers on Sunday.

Bring on The Next Norm Smith

Well that should solve the mystery of where the signature on my posts comes from.

No denying how inspirational I found the great man's words.

EXACTLY! Neale is in Jack Dyer's parlance, he's a good ordinary coach. In my words, he's been a great development coach who's abilities can take us to around 6th,7th or 8th on the AFL ladder. He is not a finishing coach.

Bring on heaven & earth so that we may move them to get at MATTHEWS L...

Funny, norm was on top of his game and was removed, he club has not come near a flag since.

THE CURSE OF NORM

(My Grandfather spoke highly of Norm when I was a child- a standout bloke by many accounts)

I brought up the idea of "The Curse of Norm" a while back (I think it was under a different username) and I was laughed at by many on this board.

The fact is, what Norm created at the MFC was a culture that was probably the best in the league at the time and probably the most prestigious and powerful in the history of the game. With Norm's sacking come a complete turn around and a different culture; a culture that has lingered at the club for 42 years.

The way I look at it? Coaching from 52-67 (16 seasons) for 6 premierships including a triple (55,56,57). That's one premiership every 2.5 years. Since then? 40 seasons. 0 premierships.

I've always believe that his tenture at the club was what made it so successful, both playing and coaching. Obviously his style was not attractive to his collegues, hence why he was forced out. However, that style and voice was part of 10 premierships over 32 years. He leaves, and the streak begins. We need another Norm.

There was a 'Norm' version2 but he was allowed to escape to "Carlton" where he transformed their culture to one of winning. This culture lived on @ "Carlton" for decades replacing the Dees as a feared opponent by allcomers.

We need another aggressive & dynamic leader to stop this preoccupation with overpoliteness & taking a backseat is good enough mentality that's has been rotting the club from it's foundations up since the mid-sixties, it's time to shake the house down & rediscover that assertiveness & on-field aggression that we're so scared of attaining, before we slide past another generation of players!

Very tounching and moving- hopefully if the players and the coach can see this it will hopefully give them the kick on they need

He certainly handled his sacking very well even though he did not like it. Him saying 'Im Melbourne through and through' really showed his loyalty to stay with us, but thanks stupid board of 1965 you have really killed a successful club culture that has contiued ever since 1965. It is now getting too long waiting for another flag, so we need the following:

We certainly need another Norm to lift us to the heights that he did in the 1950s and early 1960s to 1964.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan.
