Goody said in his presser it shouldn't say 10-12 weeks, he's more likely 6-7 weeks and they're expecting him to play a big role in the back end of the season.

Actually you can thank the concrete dump that is Marvel for that.

He landed badly and hurt his foot. Nobody did anything unusual to him and he would do the same motion 100 times a season at the G.

His season is definitely over. His career might be too, as many players never come back from this injury.

That first tackle he got was pretty crude, the second one finished the job. But yes not helped by the Marvel Carpark

Be back in a couple of weeks.

9 weeks until the first final

Can't see it especially if the forward line is functioning. If we fell into the 8 that would be another matter

And will be covering the ground better than ever thanks to the scooter he's riding.

If Cox can get approval for his glasses, surely Tmac can get approval for a medical scooter.

Will all depend on whether he has any setbacks I guess but he's best 22 if fit & ready. Weeds can have a VFL premiership medal.

Tom Stewart did the same injury just prior to the finals, had the same operation and if the Cats made the grand final was a chance to play. The club decided not to do the full operation but like Stewart repaired the injury with screws or a plate giving TMac every chance to play again this season.

He's a valuable player, particularly in setting the pressure tone as a tall forward, and in giving options as a leading forward up the ground. There's a noticable lift in output from all our forwards when he is in form.

I struggle to see how it all comes together given the seriousness of the injury and the timing of the return, but who knows.

In the meantime, well, at least we find out for sure about Serious Sam. You know, he's never been held goalless in a final?

  • CASEY: Coburg

The Casey Demons returned to their home ground which was once a graveyard for opposing teams but they managed to gift the four points on offer to Coburg with yet another of their trademark displays of inaccuracy in front of goals and some undisciplined football that earned the displeasure of the umpires late in the game. The home team was welcomed by a small crowd at Casey Fields and looked right at home as it dominated the first three quarters and led for all bar the last five minutes of the game. In the end, they came away with nothing, despite winning everywhere but on the scoreboard and the free kick count.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 17 vs Adelaide

The Demons were wasteful early before putting the foot down early in the 2nd quarter but they chased tail for the remainder of the match. They could not get their first use of the footy after half time and when they did poor skills, execution and decision making let them down.
