Tackle Your Feelings | Simon Goodwin dealing with stress

Times have certainly changed from Kennedy/Barassi coaching.

And I would say for the better...

This is the second upload by the club- the first one obviously cut off early.

Nice production but it ended too abruptly. I was just getting into the message.

Good on him for being so open.

Respect.

I used to really detest what I considered "corporate speak" from Goody.

This vid  shows that even the automaton has a soul and it's great that he can use his personal experiences to help others.

I like the post '19 Goody. Adversity made him stronger. Much like the current list I guess.

Goody said with eight minutes left to go in the GF the tears started to flow and he doesn’t cry very often. That makes two of us, Goody! 🤥  Yeah nah, I cried just hearing him say that.

Thank you for posting, Frankie_d!

An enduring disgrace that Goodwin didn't get the opportunity to speak after the Grand Final. A high point of his and our lives ruined by Basil Z - a complete peanut

Also didn’t allow Embley to announce the Norm Smith medallist either. Basil definitely made the moment all about him.

Yeah, I had the same issue. His evenness is now part of his success. Really is perfect for the modern footballer. They don’t want a rollicking coach - they want a calm mentor with consistent messaging and empathy.

People talk about Hird as a narcissist. He has nothing on Zempilas.

A prototypical media personality-turned-politician.

May the grand final never again be played in a location that is accessed by that complete [censored].

Amen. As it is written; there shall be but one holy day in the west but only one. There will be but one holy day MC’d by a Basil but only one. So shall it be.

Goody, you are an extremely good bloke. I for one are both very proud and thankful that you stuck with the Dees.  I hope you hang around for quite a while.

I know it is just fanciful thinking…. but wouldn’t it be great if we could somehow have some training sessions conducted with our supporter base to remove the ‘veil of negativity’ that somehow seems to permeate into our culture…. despite what we have achieved last year and how we are currently travelling.  Yeah I know …. I’m dreaming

What a leader Goodwin has become.  Having the guts to talk about his mental health and how he copes with the stress will help countless people.  Showing some vulnerability to the players and coaches makes him approachable and able to really connect with the group

I watched Nathan Jones on the DYL and friends podcast last night and you feel his hurt about the years prior to PJ Roos and Simon Goodwin. They changed our environment and culture to such an extent that our kids are now thriving as footballers and people in a safe environment. You can hear it in the voices of our youngsters like JJ and Tommy Sparrow so confident and knowing their role. No more train wrecks for us under Goodwin and his excellent team. Love Goody and what he has bought to our great club.💕❤️💙

I would heartily recommend the Dyl and Friends interview with Nathan Jones - absolutely fascinating. No doubt that Jonesy's greatest achievement was being the unheralded prop for our football club, whilst the major cultural changes were taking place. It's almost bittersweet irony that he shouldered the burden all the way to the Grand Final and ultimately missed out on what most would consider the greatest prize. On the contrary - the greatest prize will ultimately be the knowledge that he sacrificed money and personal glory and was instead guided by his own moral compass, to help forge possibly the greatest chapter in our club's history.
