Had some fun editing this one!

Some call it an urban legend, others claim to have witnessed the phenomenon in person (myself included), but back in Round 7, 2008, Melbourne claimed the most unlikely of victories against Fremantle. After trailing by a match high 51 points towards the end of the second quarter, Melbourne kicked 14 of the next 18 goals to record a 6 point win.

Check out all 17 goals kicked by Melbourne during what was a most eventful afternoon at the G!

Classic!

Despite there only being 20,000 at the G, I don't think I've heard a roar as loud as when Wonna kicked his fourth to give us the lead. Bruce's call of the moment never fails to give me chills.

Me, too. With a diehard MCC mate, who happily joined me high in the Southern Stand for that second half. Funny; my memory is of staring into the sun, but it seems quite dull in the footage.

Davey's goal: iconic. Wonna's 'frogs' - ditto. Moloney and McLean: Petracca and Oliver on their day (too few and far between). Miller: some ripper games (ditto). The song: rousing (ditto-ditto).

Hard to believe this was only seven years ago. It feels like Clarry's been around for an eternity. Check out all of Clayton Oliver's best moments from his debut match in a tight opening round encounter against the Giants back in 2016.

Nice start to the season that day! Watts and Hogan bringing us back in that last quarter.

Remember the night Colin Garland was thrown forward by Mark Neeld and played a key role in Melbourne's first win of the 2012 Season?

From the National Film and Sound Archives, this is a film of life in Melbourne in 1966.

The mighty Demons feature very early on in the piece.  Tuck in, nostalgia lovers!

I watched this recently! Some really great footage from back then.

These ones are a little bit deeper in the vault but I love the history of the game (and club) and I hope some others might find it as interesting as I do.

This is a replay of the final quarter of our win over the Pies at Vic Park in 1968.

This is a classic game from 1989 - 4 rounds after being smashed by Geelong by 69 points at a mud packed MCG where we kicked 2.8.20 for the whole game we beat them by 3 points at Waverley! Check out some of the efforts of Garry Lyon in the last quarter and a bit including a monster torp goal to the right of screen reminiscent of his one against the Blues in the 88 Prelim.

I'm guessing it was Michael Reeves.  He wore the long shorts/short longs to cover padding on his legs.

Yep. Michael Reeves was a haemophiliac so the slightest knock resulted in massive bruising.  Hence the extensive padding as a simple corkie could see him missing a number of games

still managed 64 games (fitzroy and north)

an interesting snippet where the dipper nailed him (how unusual)

Quote

Used mostly as a defender and in the ruck by Fitzroy, Reeves played 15 games in 1984, including an elimination final.[2] He played finals again in 1986, an elimination final and preliminary final.[2] The preliminary final was on the same day Reeves was due to get married, he had booked it not thinking they would get that far, with Fitzroy having finished fourth last the previous year.[3] Fitzroy lost the preliminary final to Hawthorn and Reeves had to be taken off the field on a stretcher when he was knocked to the ground by Robert DiPierdomenico.[4] He still made it to the wedding.[3]

Debuting just a few weeks after Clarry, was this guy.

Fair to say they've become a decent midfield pairing since then...

What a day for the kid!

Then he accidentally punches Colin Sylvia in the face in the celebration of Yze's goal.

    TRAINING: Monday 20th January 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
