Re the new mobile membership instructions for ticketing, I'm also stuck at the "where is my barcode?" stage.

I followed all instructions here: https://membership.melbournefc.com.au/member-hub/mobile-ticketing but cannot get past point #6 as there is no 'View barcode' link.

I am definitely logged in as I can see my name and member number up the top. I can also see all the games that are applicable to my membership (Thursday night, and home game GA for the season)

Does anyone else have this problem?  🙁

I've tried calling the club twice, but unfortunately got nowhere as each time I sat on hold for 45+ mins, getting the "we are busy but will get to you shortly" message, later followed by "sorry, we have no one available to take you call - please send us an email.... CLICK"

Edit - by barcode, I mean the QR code that we need to scan when entering the ground. Not the barcode number which I know about, but wont help me with entry for the ground.

I dont have the 'View Barcode' link circled in screenshot, only 'Ticket details' which is just game time, ticket type, my member number... etc

Does anyone know where you can find your barcode? At the bottom of the article posted by the club it said if you wanted to upgrade your seat enter your membership barcode on ticketek. I tried using the one they sent me for last year but it didn’t work and I haven’t seen a new one sent to me yet for this year…

The email you received yesterday should have your barcode/s included in the section about upgrading your seat. (?)

How do we think sales are going ya'll?

I wouldn’t know. But I would guess they’d be infinitely higher if not for the confusion that’s abounding. 🙄

Whilst waiting on hold they said all level 2 reserved seating had been sold out.

Same problem here.

I can understand the opening round game is not there as the entry codes are meant to be up 72 hours before, but the Carlton game should be there already.

I also came unstuck at step 6.  After step 5, I could see the same screen as the middle image in your post.  No bar code and the options at the bottom of that screen were not active.

I rang the club this morning and after 45 minutes on hold learnt that the barcodes hadn't been released yet, even tho the email said it would be 72 hours before the game ie last night.  They said the barcodes would be released in the next day or two.  It would have been helpful to not say 72 hours or send an email today to update the time line.

I suspect there were a lot of members on hold for 45 minutes (or more) and clogging up the phones with the same question.

I'm not sure this is the club's doing as I believe they are following an AFL system.

Will post on here when I see advice that barcodes have been released.

Hope this helps.

It does - thanks for that  👍

I'll sit tight then and not contribute to their phone line issues any longer.

But yes, if they can add a "we are extremely busy - please wait" or "level 2 reserved seating is sold out" to their waiting on hold messaging, then maybe something saying "barcodes are not available yet" would have helped reduce their call load today.

I'm confused with what the go is now... If my family & I have general admission memberships can we just get there early on the night & get seats in the GA area or do we need to pre book tickets ?

Welcome to the confused members group 🙂!

As I understand it once you are in the ground you can sit where you like in the GA area.  If you are a member there is no need to pre-book tickets but you will need to scan the digital ticket/barcode (in the mfc app) for each of the family to get in.

I hope I'm right with that last para as I passed the same message to others today...

How to get the tickets (if that is what you mean) have been covered in last few posts - I'm GA also so would be in the same boat as you.

What happens when at the ground I'm not clear on.

Edit - I am now - thanks LH

Further to my post above, I'm not sure what happens for GA members at popular games where there have been a lot of pre-bookings (seat allocations) and GA seating choice may be limited.   For those games pre-booking may be necessary but am not familiar with that process.

Others may have more info.

My understanding of that message is that it was a reference to level 2 memberships - ie redlegs, tridents and legends - being sold out, not anything to do with round 1 ticketing.

Yes, it could be. Sorry if my post added to any further confusion.

Can GA people can sit wherever we like within GA section or are we are still allocated specific seats like last season?

In my app, whilst I don't have barcode yet, it does reference... "Sec: GA25... Row: GA5... Seat: 27", which would suggest seats are allocated?

I just noticed his on club's website.

"Please note, for general admission members please ignore the sec, row and seat that appears with your barcode. Your general admission membership gives you access to any general admission areas which are communicated at the ground on game day".

mobile-ticketing

I guess that means GA members can sit in any seats that aren't allocated.

@WalkingCivilWarThe above might be of interest for seating choices.

@JV7I hope this clarifies my earlier posts a bit further.

Perfect! I missed that. Thanks LH 😀

So much stuff is buried deep in website pages.

I hope to God this is all really clear to fans before the 16th.  It is two years since most people went to a live game.  I suspect most people wouldn't be delving into club apps, emails and websites like we and others are doing to find the details of ticketing and access.

I wouldn't be surprised if lots of people aren't really aware they can't used the 'souvenir' membership cards to get in and now eed to download the app.

I'm generally pretty good with technology but getting across all this shouldn't be so difficult.

Ring the membership department and they will send it to you. Was on hold for quite a while (to be expected today) but they were really quick to respond when I got through.

Am I missing something?...  I'm an Armchair member (hence no barcode email for me) so do I have to wait for until tomorrow?

Ignore that...  I believe I have to wait until 10am Wednesday :(

That was the advice that I got from the club today LH.

Barcodes activated 72 hrs before the game

Seats on the tickets in your app are not yours. You sit anywhere in GA

costs on tickets don't apply. They are free to members

Gandalf, I was an armchair member too because we generally can never get to games. I rang the membership department and they suggested I upgrade to a 3 game membership. Difference was only $30 and that was the same amount I saved on my seat ($20 for me and $50 for my wife as a guest). All sorted within half an hour once I got through. Might be a good way to beat the rush on the morning.

Ah the modern world where everything is quicker and simpler, all thanks to the mobile controller. Remember the bad old slow days when you rocked up and showed your membership card and you were in.[ bar code from 1998]

Now in this techno crap slow confused world we are saved, think so , just read the several pages of confusion above.

While mobile confusers  are handy to a lot of people they restrict your life in others. Think not, I was refused a booster shot because  I didnt have a mobile confuser. But in true computer logic the chemist staff punched in 04000000000 a dummy number so what good is it.

Just tell me with a strait face the new system is more efficient, quicker and less confusing than a simple card. I have phoned the AFL in regards to the new system they didnt want to know and blamed the clubs, the MFC blamed the AFL. So no membership card to use and save for our 14th flag.

At the risk of causing more confusion something from club website, for members GA wanting to reserve a seat:

Round 1 Ticketing

If you wish to upgrade to a reserved seat on level 1 for the match, you can do so from 2pm Tuesday 1 March.

Simply enter your barcode below into the box provided via Ticketek and upgrade to a reserved seat for Round 1.

Click here to book your spot at the game.

The website doesn't show a barcode, so not sure whether it is the membership barcode (which is what was used for booking finals tickets) or the barcode that will be released in the app before the game.

For the heck of it, I followed the link shown (to the Ticketek website) to 'book a spot' but the ticketing area was blank even tho they should have been available from yesterday afternoon.

Thankfully the game is still two weeks away so plenty of time to get things sorted.

It appears that the club is issuing proforma info that isn't always up to date.

And, it looks like all the ticketing and barcode problems are with Ticketek/technology so not appropriate to be cross with the club.  However, it would help if they didn't release info that was not correct or as @JTRsuggested change the club's auto recording when on hold, to include the latest info.  Then staff can focus on membership sales.
