Casey depth squad is a good balance between depth and development.   Guys like Hunt, Tomlinson, Dunstan, Weideman, Jordon and Melksham will be putting their best case to get in the team.  That drives the best in all.
I would also expect Laurie to get a debut in 2022 if he stays healthy.  Very smart skilled youngster.

    And why move a successful Tom Sparrow from 32 to 2 ?  I always remember that Liam Jurrah was only half the player at 24 than he was at 48.

    Have a sneaking suspicion a player like Tom Sparrow might inherit the #2 from Jonesy. Looks to be a long term midfield prospect.

    I think Tom Sparrow should keep jumper number #32. Make it his own I reckon!

    Anyway these will be the ten jumper numbers available next year for new five Demon recruits.

    On topic, I hope:

    Such confidence and intent, and belief in himself as being at least equal to the exceptional incumbents. And presumably several others share all that with respect to their selves.

    But, in the strong hope of another healthy year, and maintained (and even improved) form, where are the opportunities for these players to better an incumbent?

    Has it happened anywhere? Neither of the junior Abletts had their father's #5, Jobe Watson was different from his father, as was Dustin Fletcher. If it has happened, I can't think of any. And that may be for good reason as it increases pressure on the son. So, I'd rather sons not take their father's number.

    The only consideration I see that might possibly be relevant with allocation of numbers (apart from not allocating a son his father's number) is who's locker they might be near. For example, it might be a good idea to give the #2 to someone who might benefit from being near May and/or Salem in the changing room.

We imagined the coach pulling a rabbit out of a hat. The team would roar up the charts, push aside every opponent and make its way to a Grand Final ending in ultimate triumph with Goody and Max holding the premiership cup aloft under a shower of red and blue ticker tape.

      We’re back! That was fun. The Mighty Dees’ Season 10 campaign is off toa flying start with a commanding 48-point winover the Western Bulldogs, retaining the Hampson-Hardeman Cup in style. After a hard-fought first half in slippery conditions, the Dees came out in the second half and showcased their trademark superior class, piling on four goals in the third termand never looked back.

    • REPORT: Hawthorn

      The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there.When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

      The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
