Gosch's Paddock.

Well after all the negatives that have been written about Goschs and having to train at Casey we won the premiership without a grandiose training facility. Now I am not saying for one second we don't need better but it is the players that make the difference not where you train IMO.

With that said... the players, particularly Lever and the defensive team, gave glowing endorsements of training at Casey Fields due to Covid restrictions.  Training on a full (MCG) size oval gave them the chance to better rehearse their defensive set-ups which strangled most teams this year.

I mentioned Casey in my comment  All the comment about how far away it was etc. Players hated going there. Can't have been too bad. If the changes to Goschs take place in 2022 they will be back there again. In fact if our grandiose plans for Goschs happen we could be at Casey a lot in the next few years. But players won't want to come to the MFC if we are out there. Crap.

Speaking of Goschs & Casey, when do the boys start training, and will it mostly be out at Casey late this year and next year?

Late Nov I assume. Will we be able to go is the big question?

And support/coaching staff.

Casey was huge for improving our defensive zone and spread. I also think there was something for the players to be a bit uncomfortable and on a mission to training every day during covid times. Long term if it was our only place I’d be worried but we got the best out of it over summer.

The oval at Gosch’s has now won 2 flags at 2 different clubs. It’s perfectly fine. As are the AAMI park facilities. We caught up to the rest of the league.

Improving the oval and building stand alone facilities, as well as using Casey appropriately over summer are both required for us to stay with the pack over the next few years. Plus something to call our own is important for the club if not for the team so much.

A permanent home is now the only missing piece of the puzzle. Make serious progress on that and we will never look back.

Re-sizing of Goshs is a bonus.

Speaking of grounds, we played our most scintillating footy away from the MCG I thought.

Most of our really good wins took place away from the G and our last 4 games at the G (ESS, GWS, Hawks, Dogs) were some of our poorer performances of the year.

Marvel, Optus and Adelaide Oval (aside from the Adel game) is where we played our best footy

Hopefully we can replicate our awesome form next year at our home.

Maybe we relocate to Perth full time?
