Austin Bradtke, the 204cm ex-basketballer with an amazing sporting pedigree has been delisted. He was drafted in late 2018 as a Category B Rookie but the constant interruptions to the VFL football program gave him little time to develop as planned and he never got to play on the AFL stage.

Imagine having Bradtke, Jackson AND Gawn on the ground at the same time. What that might have been! Best of luck for the future Austin.

I feel so sorry for  him  when watching   the  immediate post-siren rush of  players on to  the  ground.

He  was as rapt as anyone..Then to be delisted the next day.....I hope they'd given him some prior notice, perhaps  suggesting  he try again  after getting some experience elsewhere.

It was also  noticeable  that  Nev Jetta had tears in his eyes as he came on the field...he so much deserved to have been there.

Surely with those genes he could be successful elsewhere, I hope he gets the chance.

He never stood a chance to prove him self because he miss so much competitive football during the years he was on the list and last year was left in Melbourne for much of the time without some sort of coaching by Stafford.

the writing was on the wall when he couldn't even hold down the ruck spot in the vfl but hopefully at 204cm he can find a contract in the nbl at judt 21yo could still make a bball career out of his undoubted athleticism best of luck to him

Thought he showed a bit when used at CHB for Casey. Looked more composed, good ball use by hand & foot. Surprised a player of his size has been released on the back of so little opportunity to develop.

Agree. I thought he looked ok playing CHB at Casey too.

Given we have only 2 ruckmen and the 195 cm Daw, who will be 31 and is very slow, I am surprised we let this kid go.

I wonder if they can rookie him again.

the new rule means rookies can spend 4yrs on the rookie list so if that was the clubs plan they wouldn'tve had to delist him to do so

Interesting. I thought his next move was more likely to be a college basketball scholarship

His Mum was definitely nowhere near as good as the myth suggest. Similar to Lisa Curry.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
