Can someone please assist me. I am having a arguement with a friend. I remember Jess Sinclair being on Melbourne's supplementary list before he was picked up by Fremantle. Posibbly season 1995....

Can someone confirm this?

Taken as an 18. Y.O. by Freo with its second round draft pick via the the then VSFL U 18 Eastern Ranges side. I seriously doubt that he played for us as a supp player as he would have been too young and tied to the VSFL comp.

Sinclair was never on the club's supplementary list but in those days it was possible for top age TAC Cup Under 18 players to fill in the numbers for AFL reserves sides. I remember Greg Tivendale playing for Melbourne reserves once and Brad Green played for Essendon reserves while with the Tassie Mariners. So it's possible that Sinclair might have played reserves football but I can't say for sure if it was with Melbourne.

Sinclair definitely did play reserves as a TAC top up player for us - played at the MCG - but was never a supp list player, which entrenched a player to a club for a season - ala Peverill Bruce etc. Other TAC cup top ups for us were Paul Chapman, Ryan O'Keefe, Mark Bolton and Jason Saddington, i'm sure there were others.

Paul Chapman and Ryan O'Keefe would have come in handy over the years.

If he had chapman and okeefe along side our current team, i would pop down to the TAB and place a nice $1000 on the dees for the flag.

Yes Brad Hodge and Jess Sinclair played at reserves at the same time and may have even crossed paths with champion Olympic rower James Tomkins who played a number of inglorious games in the ruck for us .

thanks all for clearing that up for me- Whilst clearly I am right about Sinclair playing games for the dees- I think I may have lost this one on a technicality

Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
