How often does the team train at Casey?

There seems to be a few players moving to Mornington Peninsula and shooting across to Casey (the backway) for training. This would be a good alternative for players and similar to the whole lifestyle TPP rort that Geelong seem to pull off.

Mornington Peninsula, phillip island, great surfing, good farm land towns etc are all close by. But you wouldn't want too be heading to AAMi more than once a week  I suppose.

nice try...

why not

Many gentlemen farmers in Red Hill not to mention some pricey horse studs

The surf at Phillip Island is pretty wild from what I hear

TBH if you said that Casey would be the permanent training/admin base in say 5 years I doubt that there would be a handful of presentplayers/ staff who would be impacted. Gives the newcomers certainty.

Houses in the Peninsula cost an absolute bomb in comparison to house in Geelong. There is no incentive unless you are being paid overs.

The Island is awesome , what are you talking about? Always off shore pretty much somewhere.

why the weird horse stud stuff? What does that mean?

I am talking Bass side of westernport bay, farmland. Not 200 acres in the middle of Sorrento!  Knuckle head

Reality is. In our world they are ALL being paid overs. They can afford it.

And we can get them good deals…

That area has been booming though, so probably won't be a massive difference soon.

I'm pretty sure Barwon Heads area went up 20-30% in the last 12 months.

The Oval at Rye has always been known as the MCG of the bush

But as it’s a working class Football club how upset would the silvertails at Sorrento be

Actually the argument is they could earn more based on purchase intent of fans, attendance, broadcasting etc. Pre covid of course.

And besides, a decent place in a nice area down their is not cheap. Most players earn less than 250k and that's only for a few years. Few players are buying million dollar properties. And no player could afford a place in Sorrento or Portsea, or really nice pockets of Mt Martha.

You wont make that mistake again.

You got that right.

Can someone point me in the direction of who I should run my initial thoughts by? Just for next time.

Thought I'd go for a pleasant drive with the kids from Pakenham to Tooradin for Fish & Chips recently.
What a sheetfight.
Not the sleepy trafficless joint it used to be 30yrs ago.
Outskirts of Geelong was far better though still too many people for my liking.
I'll tell ya something else for nothin', it's all forked down there in Melbourne and surrounds.
You poor rats living in it just don't realise.

Wow, what a strange response, especially to someone who seemed to be supporting you - or at least giving your suggestion some credence and not bloody mindingly dismissing it.

Nice in theory, but as someone with links to the Geelong area, a drive from Barwon Heads/Ocean Grove to Kardinia Park (which is adjacent to the coastal area and doesn’t require a trip into Moorabool Street) is about 25 minutes.

I guess it depends how big a sea change the players moving to Geelong want, but getting in and out of most of the surf coast towns (up to Portartlington and Queenscliff) and into Geelong is pretty easy during weekdays. Getting into Melbs is pretty easy too with the work done on the Princes Freeway. Did @Fork 'emhead down during a week end or public holiday?

I’m not sure that the move into the Mornington Peninsula wouldn’t encounter the same type of problems the Saints did when they moved out to Franger.

Personally, I’ve never worked out why people are so mad keen to live in those far eastern suburbs myself, regardless of location. There is a big difference between Skye, Frankston, Lysterfield, Carrum Downs and Seaford vs. Rye, Portsea and Sorrento.

Nah, drove from Pakenham to Tooradin on a weekday.
Was probably dealing with peak traffic time too.
Maybe 4-5pm.

And spent a few days a couple times recently doing the tourist stuff around the Geelong area.
And that was summer holiday time, latest was New Years Eve.
As I said, found it much nicer than the other side.
Still a heap of people around but felt it'd be much quieter off peak.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
