OK funlovers, it's that time of the week again.

Today, I have chosen a team (from the backline and in position) consisting solely of footballers who played for the mighty Demons.  The more eagle-eyed among you will have noted that they have all appeared on the Melbourne senior list since the year 2000.

What else do they have in common?

I suspect this one may go off early as it's fairly simple.  Then again, I already know the answer!  :D

B:  Nathan Brown   Steven May   Ryan Ferguson

H/B:  Brad Miller   Ben Holland   Joel Smith

C:  Jayden Hunt   Nathan Jones   Daniel Ward

H/F:  Brad Green   Jesse Hogan   Tom McDonald

F:  Russell Robertson   Mitch Clark   Luke Jackson

R:  Jeff White   Cameron Bruce   Daniel Nicholson

I/C:  James Cook   Jack Fitzpatrick   Steven Armstrong   Dean Kent

daisycutter:  You would need to provide more information.

Port Demons:  Brad was selected for reasons that will become clear once the quiz is solved.  I know he wasn't renowned for playing on the back flank, but I couldn't find a spot for him in that stellar forward line!

None of them have won a premiership.

Sadly, that goes without saying but it's not the answer I'm looking for.

Clue #1:  In a twist that nobody saw coming (and apologies for my red herring reply to daisycutter's answer, but you should never assume anything), you will be delighted or horrified (delete inapplicable response) to learn that this week's quiz has absolutely nothing at all to do with music or bands.  Don't want to get too predictable!

If I walked in to your house - these would all be band members of some of your favourite bands in your cd collection?

Erm.... really briefly

Steven (Brian) May - Queen

Brad (Steve) Miller - Steve Miller Band

Ben (Dexter) Holland - The Offspring

Brad (Pete) Green - Fleetwood Mac

Russell (Robbie) Robertson - The Band

Cameron (Jack) Bruce - Cream

Erm.... cant get  any others...

Oh... your post just came through... shame about the lack of music references...

Firstly, how the fudge did Brad Miller get selected, and in the backline ?

One has, but sadly not for us.

They may well have all visited Surfers Paradise at some point, but no surfing connection that I'm aware of.

Nobody has come remotely close at this point.

Clue #2:  There is no football connection whatsoever.

I'll leave this open overnight and provide a further clue in the morning if it's still unsolved.

Please be warned that I have a another seven (7!!) of these brainteasers ready to trot out so that I may torment you each Wednesday right up to finals time, assuming I don't receive a Court injunction in the interim.

Is it topical? to do with the Euros?. A nod to Anglo heritage? There’s no Neitz, no Schwarz, no Yze or Ingersons, No Kropenyiri’s or Jurrahs or Wonnamerri’s

im stumped...

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.

  • PREGAME: West Coast

The Demons return to the scene of the crime on Saturday to face the wooden spooners the Eagles at the Docklands. Who comes in and who goes out? Like moving deck chairs on the Titanic.

It's Game Day and there are only 5 games to go. Can the Demons find some consistency and form as they stagger towards the finish line of another uninspiring season?
