DJ two weeks ago my wife and I spent 2 nights in the city seeing the Harry Potter play with one of our grand daughters. We stayed 2 nights in a hotel and also visited the aquarium and 2 restaurants. We tried on every occasion to use the Vic qr system on every occasion it was rejected. Saying we are not part of this system. It was not just my phone my wife's phone got the same result. Then today I see the government saying people are not using their qr system. What a bad joke it appears to me that  retailers are not  on it. It appears to me we are once again let down by poor public service action or lack of it. And people wonder why  a lot are loath to go to large public gatherings.

Old Dee I am no sure from your post  above whether YOUR PHONES or the Restaurants do not have the latest Vic Gov QRCode?

If your phones were rejected Then I suggest you need to use the App to get the updated Vic Govt QR code on your phones.

If it's the restaurants that haven't got The new Govt code then they are at fault of not upholding the Govt system.

In ANY CASE you should have signed a Manual  system which each restaurant etc. would / should have had for  record purposes.

That manual system had been in for months do us no excuse.

Also I am assuming your phones are " I Phones" capable of this technology being used.

re QR scanning, and for those who don't already know

you are supposed to use the vic gov services app on your smart phone

when you go to app store, DON'T search for "QR code scanning" or similar- you won't find it, but you will find heaps of other third party QR apps.

you should search for "Service Victoria". The gov app is not just a QR code app. it is a general services app, where QR scanning is just one of the many services within the app

Hmm, yes we used the manual system. The point is I put the Vic QR system on our phones the week before. Our phones work fine with the other QR system. It is perfect example of why the VIc  quarantine system fails it has been poorly administered.

Well Govt would be expecting that Restaurants  would be updating the correct QR Code system as Covid  Plan responsibility.

Needs  a few Check Officers to call around and do some Strategic calls to these slack establishments.

But well done on your part and hoped you enjoyed Harry Potter with your granddaughter.

Sadly don't hold your breath. I suspect there are no inspectors. I asked 2 of the restaurants about it and the staff knew nothing about the Vic system. So I just filled in the register.

The system created right now with no top level and actually promoting crowding beggars belief. Either put COVID protocols in that allow for social distancing or don’t so that people can get back to the footy with ease.

Sounds like they are making a simple thing complicated.

It is a complete joke. We should be able to go to the footy with our membership cards and others can just turn up on the day and buy a ticket the way they used to. The whole social distancing and qr codes is a joke. Every time I have been to the footy my services victoria app doesn't work anyway. Just walz on through. Same at the train station where they don't require an qr code and you can get on any carriage, stand where you want and all the while Mr Hippobottom is standing behind you and sneezing down your spine.

I really wish people would wear masks on the packed trains to and from the football like the LAW says you should.

Less than 10% of people are wearing masks, and I just don't get why. It is always crowded on those trains, how hard is it to slap a mask on?

FFS the complacency of so many is going to really screw us. And I don't know why nobody is monitoring it either. We should have people on trains, especially footy trains, ensuring mask compliance.

At the moment with 0 new cases beyond this one returned traveller, it seems unlikely the crowds will be cancelled. We know the risk of being outdoors is super minimal.

I caught my first train since well before Covid on the weekend and was actually quite surprised that almost everyone was wearing masks.

Main exceptions were a couple of the usual 'Facebook certified medical expert' types, and Sydney supporters. The latter I assume were in town for the game, and maybe didn't know the requirements re masks on public transport?

Yep my reserved seat ticket is already in my wallet app. What a smooth process this week! Love it!

Aside from actually being able to use your own seat, this system is much worse imo.

But if you don't tell the collectors DC it is mud standard.  It's bit like having a champion footballer who is constantly injured if you cannot play you are useless.

If anyone else had an issue where the ticket is not appearing in the Melbourne mobile app, you probably don't have an email address linked to your membership (can happen if someone else has bought your ticket) If you give the club a ring, they can help you out connecting it

additionally it only sends a ticket to mfc app if your membership has a reserved seat

all non-reserved-seat members just go to ticketek (the club does send a reminder email with barcode)

Anyone worked out how to take a kid (under 5) to their reserved seat? In previous years they just go through the turnstile with you, but this year the mcg and state government require anyone 12 months+ to be ticketed. Mfc have provided no guidance in any emails, nor does ticketek or mcg have any info.

i think in ticketek under your barcode add a 1 to "upgade child 1-5 $0"

at least that's what i did when entering my booking in previous weeks - 1 barcode 2 tickets $0 cost

that's before mfc started to directly download reserved seat member's ticket to your phone's mfc app. i think in your situation as a reserved seat member you should ring the club. alternatively i hear club is having the kiosk outside the ground and they maybe able to help, but that's leaving it quite late

The lack of communication around how this will work for members and people with kids is extremely poor. As an AFL member it doesn't impact me too much cos I have to reserve tickets through Ticketek anyway but I feel for people in @wonnabeeri
situation. No wonder crowds are down, it all gets too hard and with the weather forecast as well it just becomes easier to stay home with the heater/fire going.
Not blaming MFC by the way, the communication should be from the AFL as it impacts all club's.

Tried ringing and they only man the phones mom-fri 9-5. And they haven’t answered two tweets asking what is going on. Pretty crap really. Don’t want to drive 90 minutes each way with a 2 year old only to have issues at the gate.

that's too bad.  they should have thought of that, i'm sure you wouldn't be the only one

  • NON-MFC: Round 06

The Easter Round kicks off in style with a Thursday night showdown between Brisbane and Collingwood, as both sides look to solidify their spots inside the Top 4 early in the season. Good Friday brings a double-header, with Carlton out to claim consecutive wins when they face the struggling Kangaroos, while later that night the Eagles host the Bombers in Perth, still chasing their first victory of the year. Saturday features another marquee clash as the resurgent Crows look to rebound from back-to-back losses against a formidable GWS outfit. That evening, all eyes will be on Marvel Stadium where Damien Hardwick returns to face his old side—the Tigers—coaching the Suns at a ground he's never hidden his disdain for. Sunday offers two crucial contests where the prize is keeping touch with the Top 8. First, Sydney and Port Adelaide go head-to-head, followed by a fierce battle between the Bulldogs and the Saints. Then, Easter Monday delivers the traditional clash between two bitter rivals, both desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top end of the ladder. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.
