Interesting listening to Max talking about Nic Nat and his style.

Nic played a magnificent game on Saturday night. His control of the centre bounce all night was the stuff of training videos

Yep, I liked that part too. He definitely added balance to the rucking argument in pointing out that it’s only one ingredient to winning clearances. His comparison to Grundy’s effort to his own in intra-club games was insightful; specifically about when Gawn’s opposing intra-club side basically just forfeit the ruck and use his taps against him. That’s almost exactly what Brisbane did to Grundy.

I love listening to Max. I can’t think of another player in my life of watching footy that is both entertaining and insightful.

Max is a very well-spoken articulate bloke. Great interviewee

Other than his comments on rucking some other interesting  comments he made:

  • He thinks Langdon is ahead in the B&F voting
  • Reckons the HUB was great for bonding and relationship building amongst the group and credits it for fostering the maturity we are now starting to see. John Longmuir had similar positive comments and how his young team were able to bond in the HUB
  • Reckons the Weid is the best bet at the club, 40 out straight in front with a kick after the siren

Had a laugh when they were discussing Langdon's high percentage time on ground.

"If he gets an inkling they want to take him off, he goes and hides on the other wing for a while"

The Weid is the wild Card. Now on the “all meat” diet.
If he can take some Marks...

I was very slow working this out, was wondering why Langdon has played the wing furthest from the bench in the first 3 games and Gus the nearest.

Makes sense to have a winger that hardly leaves the ground for a rest on the other side of the bench and the wingers that get rotated more frequently nearer the interchange.

He obviously doesn't remember that game against the Crows in 2019.

TMac by a country mile for me, unless we're allowed to count Ben Brown.

I was slower. Esp live watching the freo game and having to watch gus close up all day battling it out.

Can't be for any other reason. Inless he likes being in the sunshine all arvo.

Thanks DZ

He did say that TMac and BB weren't far behind.

I remember that Adelaide game. The Weid should have kicked it.

    TRAINING: Wednesday 12th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

    TRAINING: Wednesday 5th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
