I was feeling ok about this match a day ago but as it gets closer I’m getting nervous again. This is a really big test for our maturity, a chance to go 3-0 and set ourselves up for the year, it’s a situation that has my MFCSS going nuts.

I really want to see if our pressure from last week continues into this week, GWS will be feeling their season slip away if they go 0-3 so it’s huge for them. Would love to see a statement similar to last weeks opening bounce from us. Oh and accurate kicking for goal please!!!

I want to see someone absolutely bang the door down to get selected

Hard to do when there are no reserve grade games this weekend ?

I wonder, I’m glad they’ve sent Baker back to Casey. No need to keep him with the sun with no match practice (though I think there’s no matches this weekend!). Either way it’s good to get someone else in the sub role, I reckon Hibberd or Melksham should go in there.

No change is the best thing for the team.

See above.

I'm annoyed.

I  won't get the chance to yell, after Perryman is paid a rubbish free kick:

DON'T PAY THE PERRYMAN!!!

Would it make a difference if he was on the other side....

Baker, although not getting a run last week, is omitted from this week's squad.

they do this to rotate the player not playing so the same player doesn't go more than a week without an actual match of footy, my guess is melky in the vest today

I know they don't usually line up as selected but seeing Jones on the wing is the stuff of nightmares.

Jones' strength and experience will serve us well against GWS.

Very clever Nev

Anyone know if there was/is an intra-club match this weekend?

Difficult for this weeks non AFL selected players to make a case for selection, especially those that are regular/semi-regular AFL players:  Melksham, Hibberd, Smith, Petty etc.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.

  • POSTGAME: North Melbourne

The Demons are finally back at the MCG and finally back on the winners list as they continually chipped away at a spirited Kangaroos side eventually breaking their backs and opening the floodgates to run out winners by 6 goals.
