Could Hibberd be played up fwd?

Tmac has been great and Im not adcocating him out ....its only 2 games though....., I worry about our inaccuracy and hence our scoreboard pressure.

When are teams out? FFS I can't be patient anymore lol

I'm really not a fan of losing the traditional Thursday 6:30 time timeslot for team announcements.

May as well not name the teams. Just rock up and see who runs out.

Pretty sure they will be released at 6 25 pm on the worst website in the world, afl.com

It's generally the biggest talking point week to week for supporters.

For an AFL that has been masterful at dominating the media landscape it feels like a misstep to have done this. Disagree it makes no difference to supporters, it pretty obviously does, I mean we're 9 pages deep here just on one game, and that's without having the actual teams.

My point Nev is that if the clubs were forced to name teams 3 or 4 days before a match they would be a work of fiction, probably given to the office boy to make up. The real teams would still be decided a day before a match. So fans would be none the wiser.

Edit. Clubs cannot know who is playing when you have 1 or 2 training sessions prior to a match.

This - 1000%. I don’t understand what’s been gained for any consumer of the game?

Considering that the clubs generally pick their teams on a Tuesday with a proviso on 1 or 2 being fit enough to play,  not getting the teams until the day before is an unnecessary delay

If anything, we could get the weekend teams as early as a Wednesday evening.  If there are a few late changes so what?  We've had that scenario for decades anyway (late changes)

The rest of it all is just ducks & drakes with the AFL kowtowing to the coaches (again)

You have to wonder who actually runs the sport these days

It's Covid  related Same as last year the day before at 6.25.pm

Sure, and I'm not advocating for 4 days before, just saying that it seems a missed opportunity by the AFL to not go back to the Thursday night teams, especially given how well they usually dominate the news cycle. Have a heard a stack of supporters comment about this now.

Well Tommy has been accurate! And what will Hibbo do up Forward? Kick straighter? No he is a back man and must wait his chance.

  • REPORT: Adelaide

The atmosphere at the Melbourne Football Club at the beginning of the season was aspirational following an injury-plagued year in 2024. Coach Simon Goodwin had lofty expectations with the return of key players, the anticipated improvement from a maturing group with a few years of experience under their belts, and some exceptional young talent also joining the ranks. All of that went by the wayside as the team failed to click into action early on. It rallied briefly with a new strategy but has fallen again with five more  consecutive defeats.

  • CASEY: Coburg

The Casey Demons returned to their home ground which was once a graveyard for opposing teams but they managed to gift the four points on offer to Coburg with yet another of their trademark displays of inaccuracy in front of goals and some undisciplined football that earned the displeasure of the umpires late in the game. The home team was welcomed by a small crowd at Casey Fields and looked right at home as it dominated the first three quarters and led for all bar the last five minutes of the game. In the end, they came away with nothing, despite winning everywhere but on the scoreboard and the free kick count.

  • PREGAME: Rd 18 vs North Melbourne

After four weeks on the road the Demons make their long awaited return to the MCG next Sunday to play in a classic late season dead rubber against the North Melbourne Kangaroos. Who comes in and who comes out?

  • POSTGAME: Rd 17 vs Adelaide

The Demons were wasteful early before putting the foot down early in the 2nd quarter but they chased tail for the remainder of the match. They could not get their first use of the footy after half time and when they did poor skills, execution and decision making let them down.
