Numbers for Majak and Deakyn

Featured Replies

With number 48 made famous by Jack Fitzpatrick given to Farmer I wonder what numbers Daw and Smith will get?

My guess is Deakyn will get 47 made famous by Tom Couch and Majak will get 28 made famous by Oscar McDonald.

I think he is

Don’t give them a number until they sign on.  Numbers are for Melbourne players and continue lines of tradition.  When the have earned the right, then they have earned the number.  Should also apply to Farmer imho.

i see Majak in the 40

Farmer has 48

and if deak gets listed give him the 47

Majak Daw has been given the #28 made famous by Oscar McDonald.

Deakyn Smith has #34 which Marty Hore released to go to #21.

I think Glenn Molloy would be extremely disappointed with that post :)

can't wait to see taj woewodin take his dads 22 next year and deak to move back to 39 from jetta ;)

It would be pretty good to hear "Number 28 - Majak Daw" on GF day.

As part of the effort to trim the runtime of the regular podcast, we’ve been looking at which segments could be reshaped without losing what makes them valuable. One segment that naturally came into focus was Binman’s Stats Files. Not because it isn’t important; quite the opposite. It’s become such a substantial and much-loved part of the show that it deserves a little room to breathe.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
