First live women's game really entertaining. Don't seem to flay around and play for free kicks like the boys. They just get stuck in

Suns looking good.  Their backs are quick, our forwards seem lumbering in comparison.

Hanks was great that quarter.  Keep Goldie on she creates run.  Liking Eliza so far.

Another goal,  Sun's have started well, very good pressure and lots of clean ball movement.  We seem to slowly getting on top as our experience and systems seems to getting cobwebs off.

Have we ever scored 7 goals in the first half?

The skills are so much better accross the board as young women who have played multiple seasons at junior level come into the league.

Bannon, for example, is a completely natural footballer. Exhibit A was tge free she won herself near the end of tbst quarter by not taking possession of the ball and getting tackled without it.

They must be loving playing in perfect conditions. It feels like 75% of our games have been in windy or wet conditions. Sometimes both.

Not that I can remember, I think Freo last year has been the only team to score at that rate?   The standard has raised again this year so the scoring will become more common.

What I don't want to see is taking the foot off the pedal, the team needs to learn to bury sides.

Great to  see Tegan Cunningham playing well. Karen Paxmen is unbelievable. Hanks and Mithen playing well and a couple of the youngsters look okay.

Great to see Tegan Cunningham take marks and kick goals. Lovely shimmy to wrong foot the defender and draw the free for her second. She's one of my favorites.

13 possies to Paxman in that quarter. Machine.

At this stage of proceedings, Karen Paxman (sponsored by Demonland) has my three votes. Her attack on the ball is ferocious and she’s a constant avenue of supply to the forwards.

I’m really impressed by the standard of the game. The ground is in magnificent shape (especially in light of the number of games played here last year), the surface is like carpet, there’s a light breeze and despite the humidity, conditions are great. The marking and kicking are so much better than in the first couple of seasons.

Lily Mithen is also up there with Tyla Hanks and Hore and Cunningham are dangerous up forward. Daisy has been hovering around not doing all that much but directing proceedings with her experience.

There are very few Demon fans here so I’m quiet at the moment.

I was a bit annoyed by the high profile departures last year but I'm feeling much more relaxed now I've had some time seeing Hore, both Pearces, the mouth Mithen and our perennial 'any moment now' key forward Cunningham running around. It's just a great feeling to see Demons in action.

Also, Paxman's initial's are actually "C R," because I swear every time she's mentioned it's "Composure Required... Paxman" and then the play moves 40m in our favour.

We don't need her to "star" anymore with lots of possessions, she is far more valuable to the team controlling the game for us.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

    TRAINING: Monday 16th December 2024

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan.
