GCDee 3,202 Posted January 30, 2021 Posted January 30, 2021 First live women's game really entertaining. Don't seem to flay around and play for free kicks like the boys. They just get stuck in 1 Quote
Meggs 598 Posted January 30, 2021 Posted January 30, 2021 Suns looking good. Their backs are quick, our forwards seem lumbering in comparison. Hanks was great that quarter. Keep Goldie on she creates run. Liking Eliza so far. 1 Quote
Whispering_Jack 31,368 Posted January 30, 2021 Posted January 30, 2021 It’s 29degrees and humid. The team flew up this morning. As the game goes on they’ll feel it. Dejavu? Quote
Whispering_Jack 31,368 Posted January 30, 2021 Posted January 30, 2021 Zanker marks and slots it through. 1 Quote
Whispering_Jack 31,368 Posted January 30, 2021 Posted January 30, 2021 My girl Petrevski #31 goals - she’s been playing well. Dees in front! 1 Quote
darkhorse72 1,943 Posted January 30, 2021 Posted January 30, 2021 Another goal, Sun's have started well, very good pressure and lots of clean ball movement. We seem to slowly getting on top as our experience and systems seems to getting cobwebs off. 1 Quote
Whispering_Jack 31,368 Posted January 30, 2021 Posted January 30, 2021 Another 50metre penalty and goal to Heath puts up 11 points up. Then a free to Cunningham for her second. 1 Quote
Whispering_Jack 31,368 Posted January 30, 2021 Posted January 30, 2021 A nice piece of play by the Suns goes unrewarded when Perkins misses from straight in front. Then the Demons get a point. Quote
Meggs 598 Posted January 30, 2021 Posted January 30, 2021 Have we ever scored 7 goals in the first half? Quote
Whispering_Jack 31,368 Posted January 30, 2021 Posted January 30, 2021 Hore gets slung around the neck and with the resultant free goals on the siren. Melbourne 7.1.43 to Gold Coast 3.3.21 They should travel up in game day more often. 1 Quote
binman 44,855 Posted January 30, 2021 Posted January 30, 2021 The skills are so much better accross the board as young women who have played multiple seasons at junior level come into the league. Bannon, for example, is a completely natural footballer. Exhibit A was tge free she won herself near the end of tbst quarter by not taking possession of the ball and getting tackled without it. They must be loving playing in perfect conditions. It feels like 75% of our games have been in windy or wet conditions. Sometimes both. 2 Quote

Not that I can remember, I think Freo last year has been the only team to score at that rate? The standard has raised again this year so the scoring will become more common. What I don't want to see is taking the foot off the pedal, the team needs to learn to bury sides. 1 Quote
dl4e 5,851 Posted January 30, 2021 Posted January 30, 2021 Great to see Tegan Cunningham playing well. Karen Paxmen is unbelievable. Hanks and Mithen playing well and a couple of the youngsters look okay. 2 Quote
BDA 23,048 Posted January 30, 2021 Posted January 30, 2021 Great to see Tegan Cunningham take marks and kick goals. Lovely shimmy to wrong foot the defender and draw the free for her second. She's one of my favorites. 13 possies to Paxman in that quarter. Machine. Quote
FarNorthernD 5,863 Posted January 30, 2021 Author Posted January 30, 2021 Loving watching our jumper run around. Love the half time lead. Go Dees! 3 Quote
Whispering_Jack 31,368 Posted January 30, 2021 Posted January 30, 2021 At this stage of proceedings, Karen Paxman (sponsored by Demonland) has my three votes. Her attack on the ball is ferocious and she’s a constant avenue of supply to the forwards. I’m really impressed by the standard of the game. The ground is in magnificent shape (especially in light of the number of games played here last year), the surface is like carpet, there’s a light breeze and despite the humidity, conditions are great. The marking and kicking are so much better than in the first couple of seasons. Lily Mithen is also up there with Tyla Hanks and Hore and Cunningham are dangerous up forward. Daisy has been hovering around not doing all that much but directing proceedings with her experience. There are very few Demon fans here so I’m quiet at the moment. 1 Quote
Little Goffy 14,972 Posted January 30, 2021 Posted January 30, 2021 I was a bit annoyed by the high profile departures last year but I'm feeling much more relaxed now I've had some time seeing Hore, both Pearces, the mouth Mithen and our perennial 'any moment now' key forward Cunningham running around. It's just a great feeling to see Demons in action. Also, Paxman's initial's are actually "C R," because I swear every time she's mentioned it's "Composure Required... Paxman" and then the play moves 40m in our favour. 1 Quote
BDA 23,048 Posted January 30, 2021 Posted January 30, 2021 Lauren Pearce dominant. we missed her badly last year. 6 Quote

We don't need her to "star" anymore with lots of possessions, she is far more valuable to the team controlling the game for us. 2 Quote
Whispering_Jack 31,368 Posted January 30, 2021 Posted January 30, 2021 Reply from the Suns. We lead 49 to 27. Quote
Whispering_Jack 31,368 Posted January 30, 2021 Posted January 30, 2021 That’s Hore’s third - lead now 28 points. 2 Quote
