2020 Player Reviews: #39 Neville Jetta

The veteran turned 30 at the beginning of the season and struggled to reproduce the form that made him such an invaluable defender in past years. Said to have attracted interest from Collingwood in the post season.

Date of Birth: 12 February, 1990

Height: 180cm

Weight: 83kg

Games MFC 2020: 6

Career Total: 154

Goals MFC 2020: 0

Career Total: 24

Champ. Wish him well if he leaves. Hopes he stays to play/coach in the magoos if there are any.

The mind is willing but the body is shot. I hope he can be retained at the club in some capacity, although that will be difficult with smaller football departments. If another club is prepared to guarantee him senior football, then I'd wish him well in his new home.

make the most of this final year with ur great mate jonesy nev!!! we love ya

We need to sign him back up and not let Collingwood snag him.

Time caught up with him this year. The mind is willing but the legs have gone.

We can’t let this little champion leave. He’s a fantastic leader and spokesman for the indigenous community so surely a mentoring/coaching/liaison type role could work.

We did the right thing by Jonesy. Let’s do the same for Nev.

Thanks Nev but the game has gone passed you

Thanks for all your heroic efforts in a poor team

Wonderful servant of the club but he is well past it.

Well done Nev, you made us all very proud of you on and off the field you have taken a lot of punishment through your heroics on field but I think that you are just past it but I hope that we can retain your services in some capacity into 2021.

Thanks Neville Jetta...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nev  done it the hard way to become one of our  top players and respected at that. I say it with a heavy heart the injuries got the better of him and seem to slow down all of a sudden.

However if he thinks he can go on he will be 31 at the start of the next season. I wish him the very best either way.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons return to the MCG wounded, undermanned and desperate. Still searching for their first win of the season, Melbourne faces a daunting task against the Fremantle Dockers. With key pillars missing at both ends of the ground, the Dees must find a way to rise above the adversity and ignite their season before it slips way beyond reach. Will today be the spark that turns it all around, or are we staring down the barrel of a 0–6 start?
