Its a lot like the player who retaliates on here. Always the one who stands accused. Perhaps mods should look for the posters who continually snipe at every comment made by people they have disagreed with in the past. DL is not a welcoming place for newbies. It could all be solved by having people use their real names Now that would be a step forward. It would be also interesting to have a DL lunch where people are unknown. I guarantee the tone would be a lot more respectful.

Life is what you make it.

I am assuming I am one of the people this notice is directed to. If so I would like to state that I am not here to troll. I may have different standards of what I am prepared to accept from this Club than others after supporting for 56 years. That is not meant as to say it gives me a right to be special or negative only that I am less tolerant for optimism by simply going with the status quo these days. if that has offended some people particularly our younger supporterts, I apologise generally and will personally if you think it is warranted. I will give myself a break as it is all a bit heated and people have taken and set positions. I remain a Demon faithful and doubt anyone will find a post where I criticize the players. I hope Skuit has a change of heart.

Speaking purely as a narcissist, there are plenty of critical posters on Demonland and that's natural given the lack of success. You've been called up because you attack posters and make it needlessly personal. Let's just move forward and make it about the opinion, rather than the poster. We are all here because we love the MFC after all.

Look, I'm all for a more compassionate, caring and respectful community . . . but you've gotta draw the line somewhere . . .

What about umpires, Armagedon, Filth (and by extension Joffa, Didak and Eddie), Hayden Ballantyne, Duckwood, the AFL and Milne . . . surely this post doesn't apply to them?

No need to take a break just tone the personal attacks down.

We are all [censored] frustrated about the lack of success. Your going to get all types on a forum. The sun is always shining positives petes, the negative nancys and everything in between. We don't all have to agree and we're all going to have different opinions on the best way to get there.

This forum is a place for Dees fans to chat about all aspects of the club. Just have fun and play the ball not the man.

The post wasn't solely directed at you. Every now and again we all need a reminder. In the end we're all Demons fans and we're all stuck in Hell forever.

Go Dees.

I have rarely witnessed this problem. I've been a poster now for over a decade, but when I first came on, I didn't feel unwelcome. I think it depends on how we post.

When I first joined a few years ago I got nasty comments straight away

I really don’t believe that’s true one_demon, is it. One only needs to look back at your original posts and any responses to know the real truth. There were no “nasty comments” at all that I saw.

Since I have been on here, I generally only find out about a new poster by the welcome they usually receive from others for their first post. I’m sorry if that didn’t happen for you.

More and more I feel society doesn't really know how to disagree properly. There is rarely middle ground between someone disagreeing and making the other person feel terrible/That person takes it too personally and not saying anything in order to rock the boat.

I don't know if anyone else feels this but you see it on TV and in media all the time. It's not only about not letting emotions get in the way but how do you also show someone that you respect their opinion without agreeing with it but then also not having that resulting awkwardness? There are posters on here I've discussed topics with for a while so you know there is some kind of mutual respect there but if they are people you don't know its tougher to gauge, just my 2 cents.

Many years ago, in another life, I delivered a package to the AFL Umpires Association. I had my dog with me that day. The big fella would get a little frustrated from time to time, and was often obliged on busy days to hang on longer than was healthy for him. But he was a good boy and never soiled the van. Not once.

As you can imagine, though, when the opportunity presented itself, he'd race to the nearest grassy (knoll) area and relieve himself. Well, the house I delivered that package to had a luscious expanse of lawn out front, beautifully mown, though not in a criss-cross pattern I might note.

As I handed the package to the very trim and upright bloke in white athletic gear and wire-rimmed glasses who answered the door, I noticed him glance over my shoulder. His demeanor turned frowny. Very frowny indeed. I wheeled on my heels and there was Jack the Belgian Shepherd laying possibly the world's largest ever bow-wow baloney right in the center of the square.

Can't remember whether I cleaned it up or not on my way out....

I doubt you looked at every single post

I find that how you compose your own post and reply to others goes a long way towards, dare I say it, a bruise free experience on DL. Once you've gained a reputation as a fair minded cyber person on the DL community fellow posters are less likely to take offence or misconstrue what you're trying to say and more likely to give you the benefit of the doubt if they're unsure.

  • NON-MFC: Round 05

Gather Round is here, kicking off with a Thursday night blockbuster as Adelaide faces Geelong. The Crows will be out for redemption after a controversial loss last week. Saturday starts with the Magpies taking on the Swans. Collingwood will be eager to cement their spot in the top eight, while Sydney is hot on their heels. In the Barossa Valley, two rising sides go head-to-head in a fascinating battle to prove they're the real deal. Later, Carlton and West Coast face off at Adelaide Oval, both desperate to notch their first win of the season. The action then shifts to Norwood, where the undefeated Lions will aim to keep their streak alive against the Bulldogs. Sunday’s games begin in the Barossa with Richmond up against Fremantle. In Norwood, the Saints will be looking to take a scalp when they come up against the Giants. The round concludes with a fiery rematch of last year's semi-final, as the Hawks seek revenge for their narrow loss to Port Adelaide. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

  • CASEY: Geelong

There was a time in the second quarter of the game at the Cattery on Friday afternoon when the Casey Demons threatened to take the game apart against the Cats. The Demons had been well on top early but were struggling to convert their ascendancy over the ground until Tom Fullarton’s burst of three goals in the space of eight minutes on the way to a five goal haul and his best game for the club since arriving from Brisbane at the end of 2023. He was leading, marking and otherwise giving his opponents a merry dance as Casey grabbed a three goal lead in the blink of an eye. Fullarton has now kicked ten goals in Casey’s three matches and, with Melbourne’s forward conversion woes, he is definitely in with a chance to get his first game with the club in next week’s Gather Round in Adelaide. Despite the tall forward’s efforts - he finished with 19 disposals and eight marks and had four hit outs as back up to Will Verrall in the second half - it wasn’t enough as Geelong reigned in the lead through persistent attacks and eventually clawed their way to the lead early in the last and held it till they achieved the end aim of victory.

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

  • PREGAME: Essendon

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where they’ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?
