It’s in the Age article (Bulldogs thought on trade night that Pies were paying $1.5M over the contract period. Final deal is Collingwood only pay $1M .)

One month after Adam Treloar was traded from Collingwood to the Western Bulldogs an agreement has been reached that will see close to $1 million of the midfielder's contract carried in the Magpies' salary cap over the next five years.....

The elongated negotiation process began when Collingwood disputed the Western Bulldogs' belief that the Magpies had agreed to pay $1.5 million of Treloar's $4.5 million deal that extends until 2025

HUN have story that Pies  are Paying $1.5 mill so which paper is  right?

Jake is usually on the money, the hun can be a bit hit or miss.

Who do you believe? or has someone else corroborated either of these stories.

I hope the Hun is right as I like to see C/wood suffer, but....

no other sources, just what i read

i thought i heard on radio or tv that dogs would only have to pay avg of $600/yr but would frontload some as a favour to filth, but i can't remember who or where

like you i hope the hun was right on this one

The reports seem to say that Collingwood are paying the difference between Treloar's contract with WB and the contract he had with them.

That is the sensible decision: to get a trade the player needs to agree and the clubs need to agree. If Treloar has signed an agreement with the Dogs then Collingwood either would have known those details or should have known those details, before they agreed to the trade.

This implies Collingwood is paying the full 1.5 mil.

As they should.

They are both right.  It depends which version of the Coll contract is believed.  One version had it at $900/$950 per year for 5 years so the HS is more correct.  Another version is $750 in some years and $950 in other years over 5 years so The Age is more correct.  I trust The Age to be (a little) less prone to hyperbole for click bait.

That little stuff up cost the Dogs half a million of salary cap.

I hope they have documented their "learnings" for next time.

Do you think that if we're very lucky, they will take on Goodwin as their coach, too? He's a good man for 'learnings' I am informed - without aptitude for getting the message across, albeit.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

The media focus on the fiery interaction between Max Gawn and Steven May at the end of the game was unfortunate because it took away the gloss from Melbourne’s performance in winning almost everywhere but on the scoreboard in its Kings Birthday clash with Collingwood at the MCG. It was a real battle reminiscent of the good old days when the rivalry between the two clubs was at its height and a fitting contest to celebrate the 2025 Australian of the Year, Neale Daniher and his superb work to bring the campaign to raise funds for motor neurone disease awareness to the forefront. Notwithstanding the fact that the Magpies snatched a one point victory from his old club, Daniher would be proud of the fact that his Demons fought tooth and nail to win the keenly contested game in front of 77,761 fans.

  • POSTGAME: Collingwood

Despite effectively playing against four extra opponents, the Dees controlled much of the match. However, their inaccuracy in front of goal and inability to convert dominance in clearances and inside 50s ultimately cost them dearly, falling to a heartbreaking one-point loss on King’s Birthday.
