The WA Premier mentioned a period of up to six months before they open their borders again.

Makes a 2020 season seem very unlikely. I also noticed talk about co-locating say 6-8 teams in one place such as the NT to play spectator free matches but would the appetite be there for months of isolation from family not to mention hotel living for such a long time.

Isolation is going be with us all for the rest of 2020 to some degree. Where I am there are far few cases than in Australia but businesses other than the five or six areas listed as essential have now been closed for three weeks, going out for exercise will see you arrested and there's not much sign of it ending on the next review date of April 14.

The only way out that I see in the next few months is mass testing and the indicators are that this is at least two months if not more away and of course the golden vaccine sometime in 2021.

What was a novel experience a few weeks ago is starting to become a global norm.

Keep safe and happy if you can.

Some people are handling this isolation better than others.

My missus is becoming hysterical, running around the house and banging on windows and doors.

Tomorrow, I might let her in.

Careful,  'ds'...  Is she frothing at the mouth,  Yet.?

You may want to reconsider.?  ?

I don't see a way that the AFL is able to complete a 2020 season. First time in the competitions history the season will be suspended and no premier awarded.

Trouble is they will have to reward the corporates that stick fat...and the clubs will be looking for every bit of corp money they can get.

The general fan will be quickly forgotten in the run for cash no matter how many times the AFL and clubs tell us how important we/they are.

IF corporates have their Boxes,  and participator clubs AFL,  and if there were a 2nds comp.. those clubs have the seating for their members.

Then,  IF some clubs were hogging Grand Final days;  the patrons unable to get to any Grand Finals because their clubs are too weak,  those patrons would cause the AFL to make a fair and equal AFL competition,  which does not favour any club.

This would restore balance to the competition,  amidst the passing era of money and privilege.

so true and  a good balance to the entitlement based claim by the clubs that members should not dare to ask for money back.

Sure the players will give the fans a special salute or similar but the corporates if anything will get stronger simply because there will be less of them for a while.

As an aside I worked for a large professional firm. We had seats for the tennis from the time Rod Laver opened. First year they were behind the server and around twenty rows back. Fast forward ten years and a few economic corrections and we were second row from the front as the former high flyers faded from the scene..

Corporates in boxes only.

Participating clubs to fill the seats around the ground, for the G/F.  The two clubs playing off,  and, as in times past,  when we had reserves teams,  they would also have their members seated.  So any early games, would have some allocated ticketed seats.

80% of the seated patrons should be members &/or supporters of the teams playing off.

15% should be 'on-the-day'  gate ticket sales to other clubs supporters, on a first come, first served tickets basis.

5% should be for the pre-game and half-time  entertainers... and for people like disabled, underprivileged, etc...

Cut out the ticket giveaways to special attendees; Via business handouts.

This way,  IF some clubs were hogging Grand Final days;  the patrons who are unable to get to any Grand-Finals, because their clubs aren't strong enough;  those patrons would cause the AFL to make a fair and equal AFL competition,  which doesn't favour any club.  Re the Draw, Financing arrangements, etc.

This would slowly restore balance to the competition,  amidst the passing era of money and privilege.

They could play with masks, gowns and gloves. You know it makes sense.

Nothing about 2020 makes sense.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
