Imagine what the draw will look like for the next 5 years with the AFL trying to use the fixture to claw back the lost cash.

Are we taking bets on more N.T games? This is going to be a long term disaster for the poorer clubs.

Starting to think a boutique stadium (redevelopment of Optus etc) might be part of the mix to lower costs of game day operation while maintaining T.V revenue.

Perhaps getting a better cut of the mountain of cash that the MCC bathes in from MCG games

I wouldn't hold my breath. They will be in the same position as the AFL in trying to make up for lost time.

I'm thinking more along the lines of watch what the AFL does to the smaller clubs re: fixturing/travel etc in order to maximise the games income by favouring the large clubs even more than they do now.

The AFL want games in the N.T and this is a perfect excuse to bring them back. Lets wait and see.

I know the pay issue is important, but it really highlights for me why ive turned off almost all afl media last year and already this year; Barely any discussion of games, and instead footy politics. Where were the 'on the couch' game graphics and behind the goal vision from round 1? Instead just a round table discussion on pay disputes. What a bore.

The one good thing to come out of last season was I switched off pretty much all AFL media and replaced with podcasts.

Best decision I’ve made for a long time.

Kane Cornes should be ashamed. Hysteria? Tell that to the families and friends of the 14 (now 16) people who died alone, without even the comfort of having their families beside them. Australia is also 2 to 3 weeks behind the rest of the world in this widening pandemic. It is not going to get better, especially when people like Cornes think everyone is over reacting. He should keep his mouth shut and appear stupid, rather than open it and remove all doubt. (With apologies to Mark Twain or Abraham Lincoln or whoever the quote belongs to.)

So will the brothers comeback fitter than the lone players.

Assuming they are bunkered down together. Brayshaws, McDonalds Wagners etc

Brayshaws live in other states (our one does anyway). TMac just had a baby so unless OMac is the nanny they probably don’t live together. Not sure on the Wagners living situation.

It is reasonable to assume that clubs with the strongest sense of character, leadership, work ethic and professionalism will have an advantage over the rest when coming back. None of which are strong points for us.

Thanks...

I had assumed our Brayshaw had headed west. Life in a shared house these days would be interesting to say the least. The millenials are heading home now that the pubs and avocado cafes have been closed or so I've heard ?

An ugly truth, but I think this is less so now than at any time in the last 10 years. The players look fit and committed, not with standing the Eagles game which wasn’t a great outing.

Also can’t wait for Saty to get stuck into you!

What about them taking a 50% reduction on their contracts,  for the foreseeable future.?

For the good of the world.

I don't believe taking money from individuals is the best way to cope with this crisis.  We need a broader strategy

Maintaining fitness NOW equals performing at optimum levels in the aborted games. It’s all back into the minds and personal commitment of players now with no one to guide and push them.

    TRAINING: Tuesday 28th May 2024

Veteran Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin returned to the training track to bring you the following observations from Gosch's Paddock this morning. Beautiful morning for training. The dew has dried, out from AAMI, quiet chatting. Maysie does his heart symbol. 7 in rehab, Turner, Hore, Sestan, BBB, Petty, Spargo and Schache. All in runners. Melky weighted and change of angles work. Salem has his individual program. White cap (no contact), Howes, Woewodin and Sparrow

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th
