Spot on.

The positivity will evaporate, Goody will get a bit nervous, and Ross will suddenly be thirsty for coffee.

Who knows, the club might be turning another leaf.  The ditching of the co-captaincy and leadership group pscyhobabble might be small signs that the club is finally doing things their way.  Failing is OK, but be bold and do things our way.  Get inspired by others, but don't go the easy copy cat.  The well worn path doesn't last.  In 2015, the smart folk (Hardwick & TiGeR) were watching how the bulldogs were going about things; while the simpletons were trying to photostat Hawthorn who had just three-peated.

If Goodwin feels the pressure in 2020, like I think he will, instead of giving him the flick, just make him a long-term no.2; which means Richo or Ross get a 4 year gig as El Supremo.

C'mon man.
You can't talk of watching the Bulldogs and Tigers and then throw in Ross Lyons name.
Polar opposites.

And if we want to build a clubs membership that people want to watch getting free to air TV time and sponsors, you can't have Lyon killing any creativity the players have with his mind numbing game plan.

Didn’t The Roar predict that we’d finish top 4 (or better) in 2019?

If correct. Then I hope their predictions are just as close.  I think with the bounce of 18 th spot that just puts us in the eight.
early morning arithmetic sorry need more coffee !!

Genuinely there would be one thing that would make me question renewing my membership, that would be getting Ross Lyon on board. Overrated, and negative coach.

I don’t think 0-2 would be a complete disaster with our draw as long as we don’t get smashed by 10 goals in each match

Agree. Its how we perform in the first 2  games that counts.

Close losses will make everyone afraid, and the team could/should easily go to 3 -  2 up(Freo, saints, Gold Coast) and then onward and upward

2019, predicted us to be 4th and Brisbane 12th.

Adelaide to win the 2018 flag and West Coast to finish 8th.

In April 2019 the Roar predicted the final 8 and had only one place correct. They correctly tipped 6 of the 8 finalists although those 6 picked themselves and had this gem of a prognostication about the Dees.  I loved the nothing had happened in pre-season comment.

Melbourne tops the ladder with at least 17 wins
And here we go. This column has already covered its feelings towards the Dees, and nothing that happened in the preseason has changed its mind.

Melbourne will start the year with a couple of its key pieces on the sidelines, but it won’t matter given the strength of its midfield, and the aggressiveness of coach Simon Goodwin and his crew’s strategies.

As Roos says:

”I am a Leo Barry dropped mark away from being a nil flag coach; Rossy Lyon is a Milne bounce and Ablett toe-poke away from being dual premiership coach”.

Trust a supporter of a club that has been failure personified to view Lyon as overrated and negative.

True, but that's not what has happened. And while he got Freo to a Grand Final, since then they've been mostly mediocre and constantly going backwards (while putting their supporters to sleep). Perhaps overrated is unfair, but negative is not, and he's done little recently to have me want him at the helm.

Someone tell 'The Roar' we have pretty  much a fully fit list to choose from , the total opposite to the start of 2019.

Oh and we added elite and electrifying talent in Pickett,  LJ and Bennell to a list that won two finals 18 months ago.

The quote from this Cameron Rose, "expert",  in the article is "Maybe it was injuries that cruelled the Dees last year, even though all clubs have them. Maybe it was complacency after having achieved nothing."

He's a Richmond supporter. So easy to criticise when you're on the winning side. Ignore him.

If any of you bother to read the online Roar, they have an article comparing Bombers and Demons. The end result we are 13th and bombers 12th.

Not much love in the artlicle for Viney.

I think they are mistaken but I would read your views   Go Dees 2020 !!

The Roar are a bunch of muppets.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
