Is it just me or did I miss something?

Reading that it almost seemed like it was a bit defeatist.

It gave me the impression that we are trying to rebuild on a failing club, a club that has finished on the bottom for the past few years.

To me that read like the kind of article that Carlton or Essendon should be writing. Like someone was trying to save his job?

I know his contract is up soon, but we haven’t started R1 yet.

Pretty fair statement rusty

I was thinking the same thing, that this article sounds like the team or the coach is in trouble. And as you said rd 1 has not started. :o Of course we want to do well this season, but you dont need to stress now!

That sounds pretty normal for Daniher IMO. (I'm not having a go at him, it just sounds like what we have come to expect to hear from ND)

I didn't see it that way. I think he was saying we are aiming for a premiership now, but if we don't get it we will still be ok as the players coming through are pretty good.

The role of a coach is to plan short and long-term. Looks to me like ND is doing both, which he must be given credit for given his contract is up this year.

Yeah I agree with Brocky that's how I read it, and after I read it I had a big grin on my face. :D

We should be around the mark for a long time, but will we go all the way? Only the future will tell...

Yeah, I thought it started beautifully, then got better, then he had the obligatory and honest explanation of how he feels about creeping towards the record for longest coaching career without having won a flag. I like how he meets the issue head on whenever asked about it. At least he doesn't beat around the bush, or deflect like Sheeds...

Unfortunately I'm finding it hard to be interested in articles like this these days. My eyes started glazing over when reading about the presentation listing our younger generation and how we have potential with our younger players. Today it's ND, but tomorrow I could read exactly the same from one of 15 other blokes to be honest.

Anyhow, ND's assertion that the sky won't fall in when our verterans leave us is pretty much where I was going when I created a thread on how our premiership 'window' wasn't now, but in a few years time when guys like McLean and Bate are at their peak. Our more experienced players probably aren't good enough to bring home the bacon, but you never know - and that's one of the great things about footy.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

The Demons head back to Melbourne after an embarrassing loss to the Dockers to take on the Magpies at the MCG on Kings Birthday. With a calf injury to Lachie Hunter and Jacob van Rooyen possibly returning from injury who comes in and who goes out?
