That’s great news. Even fit for round 2 I would have been happy.

No doubt someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I think May's injury history was relatively sound prior to last year.

Looking at his stats, he consistently played 17-19 games a season, so to me that supports his general robustness.  Also need to consider that a few of the missed games were probably through suspension.

Sounds like 2019 was a combination of poor preparation and not doing everything in high intensity at GC. He’s done the work this year and it sets him up for a big 2020.

Also shows how important a really good pre Xmas training block is. That base means a small, albeit frustrating interruption, doesn't become something bigger.

Which makes me begrudgingly admire teams like Richmond who win flags and front up the next year in really good knick for another shot.

Agree. I think the ability to do so is one reason experience (age and games played) is such an important factor.

  • CASEY: Coburg

The Casey Demons returned to their home ground which was once a graveyard for opposing teams but they managed to gift the four points on offer to Coburg with yet another of their trademark displays of inaccuracy in front of goals and some undisciplined football that earned the displeasure of the umpires late in the game. The home team was welcomed by a small crowd at Casey Fields and looked right at home as it dominated the first three quarters and led for all bar the last five minutes of the game. In the end, they came away with nothing, despite winning everywhere but on the scoreboard and the free kick count.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 17 vs Adelaide

The Demons were wasteful early before putting the foot down early in the 2nd quarter but they chased tail for the remainder of the match. They could not get their first use of the footy after half time and when they did poor skills, execution and decision making let them down.
