JamesJordon2019Review.png

“He ended up having a really consistent VFL year – he played 21 games. He started off down back but finished off the year as an inside-mid which is probably where he looked most natural. He’s got really good movement within stoppages, he’s really good over the ball and is a nice kick. He developed into a really consistent player in the VFL and he’s really durable. I think his training loads were really high during the year – he loves training – so he’s finished with a really good year and got a lot of learnings out of playing a lot of footy.” - Matt Egan MFC Head of Player Development

I feel that James Jordan is one to watch closely over the next 12 months, could be a real player....!!

Do many players wear a watch at training?

At 186cm/80kg thats a nothing size.

Too be honest, until he does something I haven't got a clue.

I think we need to cut him some slack because of his age (born 20 December, 2000) which means he just misses the cut off date for this year’s draft.

There are plenty of potential draftees with his size and weight. A full pre season or two will make a big difference on that score.

I was really impressed each time I saw him play. Uses the football really well and has speed, both things that we dont have a lot of at the Dees. My only issue is that he would have one great quarter and then go missing for 3. I'm holding out hope that another year in the 2's with 1-2 games at senior level will set him up for a good 2021. I don't think we need him next year, but will be a good replacement for Hibbard down the line.

I got a lot of learnings from reading Matt Egan's review, but I'm still not convinced that Jordon will be a long term AFL player.

At least I don't see anyone totally jinxing him with the old and overworn "he will be a gun" label.

I have noticed this over the past few preseasons.

Do they wear them during full drills, with tackling?  There would be a real danger of serious finger injuries if that were the case.  Maybe Peter Brukner will step in and stop this.

Most time their runs

I realise the reason they wear them - just wonder about safety of team mates when worn if full tackling drills.

As possibly the youngest player selected in last years “super” draft at pick 33, I wonder where he would be placed in this years draft if he had of been born a few days later? 12 months on he has now played a full season of VFL and worked his way into becoming a starting mid by the end of the year with decent possession numbers. Maybe that makes him the equivalent of a first round pick this year?

They have backpacks with them and I daresay chuck them in there when the rough stuff starts. They also change from runners to boots etc. as required.

1st rounder, no.

Still looking at a mid 2nd rounder or 3rd still.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
