Did Freo punk us?

Trade us pick 8, we'll take Dev Robertson, you don't want or need him anyway. Ok done.

Drafts Serong/Stephens, with Carlton taking the other and then leaves us out of the better midfielders?

Except Robertson who may turn out to be the best of them all. I doubt Serong will be in our sights.

Not sure the angst at Pickett at 10. Only 16 players are going to the draft night with Pickett as one of them. Hawks looked at him at 11, Port 12 and Bulldogs at 13. Obviously other clubs rate him around the mark and he fits a huge need for us also. Sounds about right to me.

I don’t know what to think about this draft for us if it pans out like has been widely speculated.

One thing seems apparent though. Either the list managers know more about Jackson and Pickett than the rest of the AFL world combined, or they’re making a mistake that’s sizeable enough to stack up against some of our best from the last decade.

I feel like Weightman would be a mistake but I’ve been wrong before

Won't know if many of them are a hit or not for years Murph.  Some no doubt will hit the ground a little better than others who may not make it or might take 3 to 5 years to find their feet.  Tough gig as a recruiter.

Pretty sure we'll see a high level of effort, attack and pressure early on even if he takes a few years to hit his straps in other areas.

And Pickett to Hawthorn with the very next pick .....

From where i sit, outside of effort and a fitness edge in favour of Weightman (and a great attitude/seemingly good character when interviewed, haven't seen Pickett interviewed but that means nothing) there's no real stand out sign that says either is going to be a much better player or a star vs the other not being so good JS.  This is where we have to trust that Taylor & Co. are earning their coin and will choose well.

Got word this morning that Weightman is confident he’ll find him self in a kennel come tonight.

We’re still doing riddles right?

Apparently yesterday someone noticed some horns starting to grow on Pickett’s head.

Either way we get a small forward, which will improve our squad either way

  • PREVIEW: Collingwood

Way back in March we contemplated the possibility of a Demon resurgence after Simon Goodwin’s summer of love. Many issues at the club had seemingly been addressed, key players were returning from injury and a brand new day was about to dawn. We imagined the coach pulling a rabbit out of a hat. The team would roar up the charts, push aside every opponent and make its way to a Grand Final ending in ultimate triumph with Goody and Max holding the premiership cup aloft under a shower of red and blue ticker tape.

  • AFLW REPORT: Western Bulldogs

We’re back! That was fun. The Mighty Dees’ Season 10 campaign is off toa flying start with a commanding 48-point winover the Western Bulldogs, retaining the Hampson-Hardeman Cup in style. After a hard-fought first half in slippery conditions, the Dees came out in the second half and showcased their trademark superior class, piling on four goals in the third termand never looked back.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
