I was hoping he might have got a look-in last weekend - even as the sub.
Need some youth and energy in the team.

i hope we never 'debut' a player as a sub

hate it when others - particularly geelong, who seem to only do it this way - do it

Taj made his debut this year. I liked the signs in the limited opportunities.

Taj has some run and skills and smarts to make a very good player. Probably an outside mid/wing running player.
Hopefully they give him more chances in 2024.

he's played more afl games than his dad at the same age...

i personally think his best role is an inside mid - he's the next cab off the rank given jj is out the door for that role

Personally don't see him as an inside bull.   Yes on occasions but mostly an outside receive role for mine with a portion of inside work when needed.

Not saying he couldn't / shouldn't but a bit too much potential class and outside run wasted if we were to push him towards a mostly inside role imho.

Also does he have the physicality / bulk to handle a mostly inside bull role?  Even in the future.

Again if we pushed him into it yes he might build up but i reckon you then potentially lose a bit of speed / class on the . Outside more critical i would have thought.

And/or on a wing.

Very early days though so anything's possible.

How good do Shane and Taj look can’t believe that it is 23 years since Shane’s Brownlow how exciting was that night.❤️💙. Taj has a good look about him he debuted in a confident manner and has self belief which is so crucial at AFL level. Hope to see him play a lot more next year.!!

I saw him about an hour ago. He definitely still looks pretty fit!

Interesting that when he was drafted I thought he was shorter than his dad. Doesn't look that way anymore.

He is an absolute workaholic and will have a break out next season

Like father, like son.

Looking forward to seeing a lot more of him over the coming years.

IMVHO he would have been a far better sub that the ones we selected in both finals.

I too have heard he is one of the most professional and dedicated young players at the club.

Shades of Billy Stretch.

Wishing him a long and successful career.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
