Billy Stretch was pretty much a free pick. Costs us absolutely nothing. He was stiff to be delisted last year. We kept Josh Wagner and delisted this bloke who would have been good depth for the wing spot.

In that same year we picked up a bloke called Aaron Vandenberg and Mitch White. Vandenberg is an animal and White was also a tough nut. 

There was a theme there.

Buddy, I think his best productivity For Swans,  is well past.

 

Restricted free agents... for us, I don't know;   But my post is not in relation to free agency...  But more to say I don't like the idea of Daniher to us.  I'd rather he stayed with the Bummers,  or go to Saints or Swans.

 

This is what brought my mind to who we might like,  in the tall/ruck area.  Hence 2metre Peter.

IMV, has that size build of 203cms with a relatively Power build, of which we don't have any other than bean poles. 

We have Preust,   but I do not like the idea of Preust playing as a key forward, when not rucking.

 

So I reckon that Wright,  who is just approaching his 24th birthday,  is about to mature.   He's just equalled his best season, last year, under the new coach up there..  And I think he's going to improve a lot. 

Not to become a Max Gawn,  but one who is built to play 2 differing roles well.  Key forward as a big Power forward,  and also that Power bodied ruckman for around the ground stoppages, and throw-ins.

I see how Jackson could be the centre bounce guy,  and push forward, or follow like Gawny.

But we lack that Big Bash & crash Ruck,  and wrestle guy in our tall division.

 

The Hawks have McEvoy,  close to this type of role.

Tigers use Soldo and Nankervis to great effect,  servicing their quick small players.

Bummers use Bellchambers.

I see a role similar to how Kreuzer plays...  although Kreuzer has had his career destroyed by his leg injuries.

 

So I reckon Wright has the size and shape,  to play that role,  we at Melbourne do not often employ,  in our ruck divisions.  Powerful big men.

We tend to go with beanpoles, or jumping jacks...  its a fashion thing, i reckon with us.

A desire for hard ball winners and competitors.

Unfortunately at the expense of skill.

Which is just one reason why Harley will be way more than a bonus if he plays regularly. If he does he will be our most skilled player since Robbie.

Big call, and was going to say last ten years. But the only players in the same ball park since Robbie are Watts, TJ, the Wiz and maybe Yze.
