Gone:

St Kilda, Carlton, North Melbourne, Fremantle...

So the nearly Klopp of Australian football is gone, when have we had 4 coaches go in a year? And I think it could be more, I cannot remember so much bloodletting in a season and I don't think any of the former senior AFL coaches are exactly banging down the door for another go. Fox footy is going to have a crowded couch next year. Anyway my question, what is the most number of AFL/VFL coaches to go in a year?

In trouble:

Adelaide, Port Adelaide, GWS

These three teams are appalling in terms of having the list and not performing, I think the only thing that will save Pyke is the fact that there are not to many obvious candidates to take over as Mayor of Snowtown. Hinkley should be sacked as well but for some reason (probably because he comes across as likeable _ excellent football reason...not) won't go, but damn he would have to be close, they have had a lot of senior players drop their heads this year without injury being an obvious factor like other years. Cameron has not managed to put any steel into these pretty boys, they should be vikings by now not Harlem Globetrotters.

Watching:

Essendon, Melbourne

Worsfold was bloody lucky he was playing Freo, if he had played Hawthorn it would have been him sacked.

Goodwin gets another year without doubt, and obviously there is another thread, but he better do a Hardwick.

I can hear the mobs of disgruntled South Australians baying for blood from here.

Yeah if Goodwin didn’t have such a long contract the blowtorch would be blistering his balls about now!

And yet other clubs arent so girly about pulling the trigger. There's  an idea it's  about the big picture.... we're  still obsessed with contact prints. Our vision is a bit ...compromised imho

So True. Freo president said they pulled the trigger because they didn't want to " tread water" for another 12 months. Yet here we are timidly putting contracts and $ ahead of success and a strong culture.

Only problem stranga is that we're not talking 12 months, we're talking another 36. Our best bet is to sign up a 'coaching director' to unofficially take the coaching reins. Just have Goodwin as a puppet.

Lyon hasn’t made a finals series since 2015. Goodwin improved has had one down year from three amongst a bunch of mitigating circumstances. He may well be the wrong guy to lead our club but the situations are vastly different.

Yes he gets this Summer to get back on track, and winning

Bloody glad that Beelzebub, SWYL, TGR, PF and the rest of the itchy nut crew are miles away from managing our list or having any say in anything. You blokes need to calm the farm, god I'd hate to be in a tight spot with you next to me. All* decent posters and genuine supporters but this is a journey. Yea if we stuff up next year then you'll be shown to be correct, but a coach doesn't get their team to a PF by fluke, and clubs don't establish sustainability by jerking their knee at the slightest obstacle. Of course Goody gets a mulligan season. Until next year we won't know. So just chill.

Edit: *mostly decent posters

Goodwin might not be our coach in 2021 but he absolutely should be for the start of 2020.

People like beelzebub and stranga want to pull triggers left right and centre. That’s not smart business or football, even if the temptation is strong. There always has to be a degree of reflection. We’re not 12 months removed from a PF. We need the context of the 19/20 pre-season and the 2020 season (at least the first third of it) to truly know where Goodwin stands.

That's the melbourne way

Its why we have never ever moved on over 55 years run by scs for scs
