Got this from bigfooty..

Jay Clark on MMM said that Burgess is planning the most brutal fitness pre season ever for the melbourne blokes, apparently the club wants to find out who's serious.

Watch half our list sook and complain to Paul Marsh because our pre season is way too hard.

Another trip to the PLayers Association for these millenial lightweights

Dermy's take courtesy of SEN.  Not sure who he's referring to here as i switched off about 10 min in to the 2nd quarter...

“That was a meaningless performance and they have little to no identity as a football team. I cannot think less of them this morning after last night.”

Brereton pinpointed an exact moment that highlighted the issues at the Demons.

“There was a situation last night where Melbourne had banked up against their own inside 50 ball. So their backmen have pressed up," he said.

“The ball got rebounded. The closest Melbourne midfielder to the chase, the ball got to the wing, the closest Melbourne player to chase chased for five metres and peeled off. This is in the first half, there’s still a half to go.

“He peeled off the chase and then tapered down the sprint to the interchange bench. He actually disguised that he wasn’t going to chase by taking himself off in a rotation.

“When I saw that, I replayed it several times to make sure I didn’t see something incorrectly.”

I wouldn’t mind Brereton working for the MFC in the Football Department

Family member played at Hawthorn, Kennedys Cammando era. Those guys were tough and fit. One pre season and you were in top shape. No water during training. That was considered p... weak. Players drove the fitness as much as the Coach. What I would have given to throw $$$ at a Joel Selwood rather than Lever.

I honestly think this is why Lewis won’t go around another year.

And why ANB and Stretch will be captain next year.

Same but having too much fun in the media and unfortunately he would now see us as a poison chalice i think.

The recovery has to come from the current coaching group or a new assistant from here or bust IMO.  Who of any substance would come to this joint now on AFL competitive coin SW unless they're being paid massive overs that we don't have the budget for?

The Recovery has to come from people who know what they are doing, and who are prepared to stick it out until a “Culture” emerges

nobody in in the current coaching ranks or anyone presently within the MFC have a clue. That is painfully obvious.

Last night took us back to 2009-13. Players didn’t want the ball, our Captains were non existent fluff and the Members didn’t turn up, we knew it was going to happen.

Pert needs to find new people this Summer in the FD or else this Club is seriously close to folding for good

Yes i heard Dermott ‘s comments at the top of the show.

That is how people outside the club perceive us. We are nothing...

We ARE nothing. Its not a perception. We have no  working game plan, no really electrifying  talent, no pace, no team spirit anymore,  no home base,  and precious few supporters. We're crappola. I dont know why they keep us in the competition...we continue to embaress ourselves year after year. With the just the odd year every decade or so where we dont.

And it is about time The Board of the MFC realized this and actually did something about it.

For us to share the same name as the nations fastest growing city, and to be such a nothing club is beyond comprehension.

This is why i wait for this years AGM.

I think 99% of Members have reached that Tipping point.

It is time to be angry at those in charge and demand serious change, while we can

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
